Marketing Manager

(Permanent; Full time; Hybrid Flexible, based in Toronto)


The Marketing Manager plays a key role in developing and executing campaigns and projects that help UNICEF Canada achieve its fundraising and advocacy objectives.

Reporting to the Deputy Director, Marketing and Brand, the role provides effective project management to ensure campaigns and projects are on schedule, on budget and on brand.


Through delivering effective campaigns, the Marketing Manager will aid UNICEF in delivering on its mission to ensure every child everywhere has the opportunity to grow up safe, healthy and happy.


The responsibilities will include:

Campaigns Project Management (60%) _

  • Writes campaign briefs, integrating input from teammates on strategy, budget, channels, creative direction, etc.
  • Develops project plans, including workback schedules and roles and responsibilities documents, in collaboration with teammates.
  • Ensures deadlines are met by scheduling and monitoring tasks, tracking timelines, proactively communicating with stakeholders, as well as anticipating issues and devising solutions.
  • Schedules and leads meetings, capturing key information and actions.
  • Acts as a focal point with external partners such as agencies, vendors and media partners.
  • Acts as an internal focal point with teammates.
  • Coordinates reviews and approvals. Effectively captures and communicates feedback.
  • Manages and shares files such as design files, copy documents, logos, images, etc.
  • Submits translation and website requests.
  • Supports with campaign monitoring, reporting and debriefs.
  • Contributes insights and learnings to optimize campaigns processes and results.
  • Tracks work and spending against budgets.
  • Reviews invoices and submits them for payment.

Marketing Projects and People Management (40%)

  • Supervises the Marketing Officer, supporting their development and DEI journeys.
  • Works with the Marketing Officer to cultivate and coordinate the marketing team's vendor roster of printers, suppliers, graphic designers, and other creatives. Connects teams with suitable vendors.
  • Oversees the marketing team's project intake process.
  • Manages marketing projects from start to finish. Develops and executes project briefs, budgets, work back schedules, and so on.
  • Works with the rest of the marketing team to maintain the creative assets library (design files, logos, fonts, copy decks, etc.) Ensures files are properly archived and packaged, and easy to share.
  • Acts as a brand champion who contributes to the Brand Guide, trainings, and brand materials.
  • Provides brand reviews and creative direction for a variety of visual and written collateral.
  • Contributes to the achievement of KPI targets and measurement and reporting.
  • Cocreates and maintains the team's Marketing Calendar.
  • Researches and provides recommendations for resources, services and programs that support the marketing team.
  • Contributes input for annual planning, budgets, goal setting and team processes.
  • Requests vendor quotes and supports with RFPs.
  • Monitors marketing projects and initiatives results and provides optimization recommendations.
  • Contributes to project and campaign analysis and debriefing presentations and reports.
  • Presents weekly status updates to the Deputy Director, Marketing and other stakeholders on key projects and marketing activities as necessary.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in marketing and working on campaigns.
  • A postsecondary degree in Marketing or a related field.
  • Experience executing marketing campaigns that are integrated across digital and traditional channels (social media, search, display, TV, radio, print, out of home, etc.)
  • Experience managing people and vendors such as agencies, designers, and writers.
  • Exceptional project management and time management skills.
  • Excellent people and relationship building skills. A team player who motivates crossfunctional teams and fosters collaboration.
  • Agile with the ability to multitask, prioritize and adapt in a fastpaced environment. Anticipates issues and proactively devises solutions.
  • Demonstrates a growth mindset by staying up to date on marketing, digital marketing, campaigns and project management trends and best practices.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Knowledgeable about marketing KPIs. Able to report on statistical and numerical results and provide insights.
