Experience - 5 to 7 years
Mandatory Skills:
- 57 years of preconstruction/estimating and/or operations experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Estimating Professional) are advantageous.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management
- Extensive experience in track estimation and construction cost management within the railway industry.
- Strong knowledge of track materials, components, and construction techniques.
- Proficiency in using track estimating software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret engineering plans, specifications, and trackrelated documents.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills to interact with stakeholders, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Sound understanding of project management principles and processes.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
- Strong problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to understand project scope, objectives, and specifications.
- Review track construction plans, engineering drawings, and related documents to assess project requirements and identify cost factors.
- Conduct site visits and evaluations to gather information, assess track conditions, and determine project complexities.
- Analyze project data, including quantities of materials, labor requirements, equipment, and subcontractor costs, to develop accurate and detailed cost estimates.
- Utilize specialized track estimating software and tools to perform calculations and generate estimates.
- Research and source track materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing to ensure accurate cost estimation.
- Prepare comprehensive cost breakdowns, including itemized quantities, unit costs, and labor estimates.
- Collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and assess potential cost-saving opportunities.
- Assess project risks and identify potential cost implications related to track construction and maintenance.
- Coordinate with project managers and teams to understand project timelines, deliverables, and resource requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to junior estimators, reviewing and validating their estimates.
- Stay updated on industry trends, track construction methodologies, and market pricing.
Job Type:
Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Salary:
$30.50-$35.78 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
