    Position Summary
  • This position is responsible for providing general support in the laundry facilities including washing, drying and folding linen and maintaining accurate records for inventory control.
    Duties & Responsibilities
  • Checks, records and maintains rotation of incoming laundry from suppliers, utilizing inventory management software.
  • Receives soiled laundry from students and instructors and replaces with clean garments.
  • Washes towels and other soiled linen for various programs as required.
  • Assists in folding clean laundry and stocking clothing racks.
  • Brings damaged garments to the attention of the Laundry Supervisor.
  • Assists with the towel exchange.
  • Assists with inventory tracking.
  • Attends department meetings.
  • Wears required uniform.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Completion of Grade 12, including successful completion of Grade 12 English and Grade 11 Math and up to 3 months' related work experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications.

Skills and Abilities

  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and faculty.
  • Good working knowledge of the English language and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain concise and accurate records.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Computer experience and a basic understanding of MS Word and Excel, combined with keyboarding and data entry skills. Experience with inventory software preferred.
  • Ability to handle varying work related priorities at the same time and work to deadlines with mínimal supervision, exhibiting initiative.
  • Working knowledge of commercial washers and dryers.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment requiring heavy lifting, reaching, bending and standing for long periods of time.

Salary Range - Prorated based on FTE
