We are looking for a Learning Specialist


As a
Learning Specialist, you will actively participate in the development and creation of cultural and educational programs for the Canadian Museum of History, the Canadian War Museum and the Canadian Children's Museum.

This will be done by determining audiences, forging ties with various audiences, proposing cultural and educational activities, contributing to the conception, creation and development of learning activities, and ensuring the promotion to encourage the participation and engagement of audiences.


We are looking for an individual who:

  • Has the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
  • Has excellent planning skills, initiative and leadership;
  • Can work independently, act proactively and take direction;
  • Acts in a professional manner and has a concern for order and quality;
  • Has knowledge and desire to deliver visitor focused products and experiences.

Three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience in:

  • Conceptualizing and developing educational activities and special events for a range of audiences;
  • Managing projects and preparing proposals, reports, budgets and schedules within the context of program development and evaluation;
  • Analysing and evaluating audience needs (schools, families, multigenerational groups etc.);
  • Establishing partnerships with stakeholders from the cultural, academic and educational sectors;
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team;
  • Experience in the development and execution of digital products and programs in an educational context considered an asset (i.e. online resources and virtual programs).

Knowledge of:


  • Learning methodologies, educational programs, and audience development;
  • Learning programs and education theories and trends in museums relevant to children, youth and adults;
  • The principles and practices related to market analysis and the implementation of programs on a national scale;
  • Evaluation techniques, educational theory, and informal learning methods;
  • Projectmanagement processes, including the preparation, control, and supervision of budgets and schedules.

Education:
University degree in education, museology, social sciences or the humanities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Compensation:
E6 - $ 71,173 to $ 88,080 (under review)
