The SPECIALIST I, STRATEGIC RESEARCH PROJECTS is an integral member of the Strategic Research Projects team whose mandate is to foster the growth of the University Health Network (UHN) research enterprise through supporting its ongoing strategic priorities.
Duties
- Participates in the initiation phase of institutional project development, including situation analysis, consultations, landscape assessment and stakeholder (scientists, staff, leadership and other stakeholders) advising.
- Provides project management and implementation support for institutional projects, including collaborative planning (with clients), developing and drafting of project materials, and coordinating crossfunctional team efforts to ensure project completion.
- Conducts data gathering, analysis, interpretation and presentation for strategic projects.
- Manages and mitigates risks in the implementation of strategic projects and advises stakeholders.
- Builds ongoing relationships with stakeholders to maximize opportunities for project success.
- Plans, develops, writes and presents project materials for a variety of audiences to increase engagement and collaboration among UHN community and increase the sustainability of research at UHN.
- Gathers information on and stays current with the UHN research organizational structure and individual researcher scientific activities, special institutional initiatives, technologies developed within UHN and available for commercialization, potential funders and their programs, including governmental and nongovernmental agencies, pharmaceutical and other companies who are potential partners in research activities.
- Contributes to the coordination of continuous process improvement in collaboration with other members of Research Solutions & Services.
Qualifications
- At minimum, a master's degree in Health sciencerelated discipline, or recognized equivalent
- Minimum one (1) year of project management training and/or experience required.
- Experience in academic research laboratories required.
- Clientservice oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand.
- Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance to UHN standards.
- Computer proficiency (Microsoft 365 suite, browser skills essential; VBA and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite desirable).
- Knowledge of and experience within healthcare and biomedical research environments desirable.
- Knowledge of and experience with the research ethics process and clinical research desirable.
- Knowledge of applicable legislative, UHN and/or departmental policies desirable.
- Experience in writing and editing of scientific documents (research proposals, manuscripts, etc.) desirable.
