Purpose:


Reporting to Director, Financial Reporting, this position is responsible for managing and reporting on Athene's in force block of annuity business as well as acting as the team lead for Python usage.


Accountabilities:

  • Produce quarterly GAAP Results.
  • Prepare and maintain relevant documentation.
  • Improve and modernize parts of the valuation and financial reporting processes.
  • Communicate results to senior management, auditors, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop new tools and controls that use effective code in Python.
  • Review current developed code and optimize for security and accuracy.
  • Learn and implement Athene's Python best practices; recommend improvements.
  • Provide team support for help with troubleshooting coding issues.
  • Help develop Python knowledge across the team.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics or any quantitative field.
  • Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience working in the life insurance industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage several projects is a must.
  • Demonstrated desire to take initiative and run with projects.
  • Experience with any of the following would be beneficial:
  • Annuities
  • US GAAP Reporting
  • Proficient in MS Office suite and any actuarial valuation software.
  • Advanced Python skills
  • Comfortable working in a flat structured organization and interacting with management.
  • Ability to view "big picture", understand broad corporate impacts, and focus on company objectives.
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills.
