The primary function of this role is to develop, implement & evaluate various projects related to equity and inclusion initiatives, and gender-based and intimate partner violence.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:


Major

Responsibilities:


  • Engages with internal partners, communities, external stakeholders to build alignments and drive impact across crosscutting priorities related to equity, and genderbased and intimate partner violence
  • Monitors current social, economic, and political trends and issues, including legislative proposals and Council directives, that impact Indigenous, Black and equitydeserving groups including those disproportionately impacted by genderbased and intimate partner violence
  • Leverages userresearch, engagements, scans and findings to recommend strategic and policy directions for the City
  • Develops measurement and evaluation frameworks to support an outcomesbased approach
  • Establishes, coordinates, facilitates and provides support to equity, inclusion and human rights related roundtables, task forces, advisory committees, working groups and/or interdivisional committees
  • Researches and presents best practices and options for programs and policies, including assessment of implications, feasibility of options and implementation strategies
  • Develops partnerships, resources/tools for City divisions to build capacity, engagement and understanding of equity
  • Builds and maintains networks and coordination mechanisms with other levels of government, other municipalities, communities, and strategic partners as appropriate
  • Demonstrates political acumen in providing expertise and strategic advice on equity, diversity and human rights in accordance with the City's and the Equity, Diversity & Human Rights division's policies and priorities
  • Supports divisional events and activities that advance equity and inclusion priorities and objectives

Key

Qualifications:


  • Experiences in the development, implementation and evaluation of equity, diversity and inclusion policies, programs and initiatives within a large public or private sector organization;
  • Experience with service equity and influencing organizational change strategies
  • Experience facilitating and coordinating advisory and consultation processes involving elected officials, staff, and external partners, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships;
  • Project management experience, managing complex genderbased and intimate partner violence assignments from inception through to implementation with mínimal direction while resolving conflicts and balancing political, community and other stakeholder interests.
  • Experience codesigning and implementing collaborative action plans and initiatives to address genderbased and intimate partner violence.
  • Superior knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of genderbased and intimate partner violence, and the systemic factors that contribute to abuse.
  • Welldeveloped awareness and understanding of the health, safety and lethality issues related to genderbased and intimate partner violence.
  • Knowledge of community resources and the justice system as it relates to genderbased and intimate partner violence.
  • Formal or informal training in traumainformed approaches and intersectional frameworks (antiracist, anticolonial, antisexist, etc.) preferred
  • Ability to evaluate future implications of genderbased and intimate partner violence strategies and consider the outcomes of situations that could result from decisions.
  • Knowledge of the barriers experienced by equity deserving women, girls and genderdiverse people.
  • Strong ability to perform research, analysis and report writing.
  • Postsecondary education in a discipline pertinent to the job function or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, test and analyze complex information with attention to detail and accuracy; experience in interpretation and reporting of qualitative and/or quantitative data.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a highly organized, fully accountable project leader and as a selfdirected and effective team member, including the ability to track and evaluate program/project progress and success
  • Highly developed sense of discretion, judgement, diplomacy and political acumen to deal with sensitive and confidential issues;
