- Reviewing transit documents, development circulations, transit construction and landscape restoration drawings, land management plans, and comprehensive environmental reports
- Providing comments on City policy and program interests, tree preservation, and urban forest conservation programs
- Communicating information to applicants or contractors regarding city requirements and permit issuance conditions
- Offering technical and professional support for forestry projects and programs
- Supporting the City Transit Expansion Division to achieve Natural Heritage policies
- Developing and maintaining client relations with various stakeholders
- Representing forestry issues to community groups and interested parties
- Preparing graphic and written material to communicate forestry practices and standards
- Representing the City's interests at meetings and committees
- Maintaining service delivery records, correspondence, and files
- Performing other duties as necessary
- Secondary degree in Forestry, Ecology, or related discipline with work experience in environmental planning
- Considerable experience in urban forestry, tree By-Law administration, and environmental planning
- Experience in identifying native plants and plant communities in Southern Ontario
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and cooperatively with self-directed work groups
- Must have a valid Ontario Driver's License Class 'G' and City's Equipment Operator's License
- Knowledge of Municipal Code Chapter 608 (Parks), Chapter 658 (Ravine and Natural Feature Protection), and Chapter 813 (Trees)
- Knowledge and administration of tree and natural feature protection By-Laws
- Understanding of Metrolinx and City's transit projects and their impacts on trees and urban forest
- In-depth knowledge of native plants and plant communities in Southern Ontario
- Understanding of urban forestry management and related legislation
- Ability to read construction plans and geotechnical reports
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships within the organization and external community
- Proficiency in computer skills and familiar with Maximo software and Microsoft Office applications
