    What your role will be...

    Director, Transformation & Strategic Initiatives - Small Business, Canadian Banking

    Leads and oversees the successful execution of a portfolio of business transformation projects for Small Business Canadian Banking, ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed and delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

    What your role will be...

    • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
    • Leads the PMO function, overseeing a portfolio of transformational projects for Small Business Canadian Banking, which will be co-led with or owned by other individuals. This involves working closely with key stakeholders to plan and secure resources; define, document, and maintain implementation activities and timing; develop detailed project plans, and continually review these plans for potential overlaps or intersections with competing activities; secure consensus and alignment from project team members and senior management, as well as maintain in-depth knowledge of the projects' financials.
    • Manages and leads team that acts as lead PMO for projects, ensuring team members develop detailed delivery plans for each work stream and ensures transparent accountability for each milestone, provide regular summary and detailed reporting on project status for executive updates, and projects remain on time and budget.
    • Directs and owns the communication strategy and change management efforts to embed transformational changes, processes, procedures, disciplines, and systems within the network. Establishes tracking and monitoring systems to measure progress and key metrics to ensure compliance with the operational model on an ongoing basis and leveraging data makes recommendations for continuous improvement.
    • Leads business case development and tracking/reporting of financial status for SIP, VRC and OPEX, working closely with stakeholders and finance partners to establish business benefits and key performance metrics to measure value and impact.
    • Leads and manages the Management Process Control (MPC) systems, drives the success of partner Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) by fostering strong relationships and delivering valuable business insights, and creates and maintains executive reporting to support informed decision-making at the executive level.
    • Oversight of Business Line transfer process from/to Commercial Banking to/from Small Business and associated reporting considerations.
    • Continually keep abreast of project management methodologies, body of knowledge and toolsets and provide guidance &consultation to members of Small Business team with respect to project management methodology, best practices and supporting tools.
    • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
    • Creates an environment in which their team pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank's Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
    • Builds a high-performance environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment and using a coaching mindset and behaviours; communicating vison/values/business strategy; and managing succession and development planning for the team.

    What you need to succeed...

    • Post-secondary education, University Business Degree or MBA preferred
    • 7+ years of business or corporate planning/project management experience in the financial services sector, with 3+ years in a leadership role
    • Extensive background in Project Management Disciplines
    • Must have advanced analytics skills with the ability to translate complex analysis into meaning full action plans
    • Excellent understanding of Small Business segment, including operational policies and procedures, servicing model, distribution channels, products, and strategic support areas to ensure the company complies and meets with strict regulatory standards and guidelines.
    • Excellent understanding and knowledge of Project Management & agile processes
    • Thorough knowledge of Canadian Banking strategy and business objectives
    • Strong organizational skills to coordinate and prioritize several concurrent projects.
    • Strong influencing and communication skills to influence all levels of the organization
    • Solid leadership skills with an ability to identify challenges, recommend options and solutions within specific timeframes
    • Excellent understanding of the Bank's operational structure from both EO and field perspectives
    • Thorough understanding of internal/external Audit/Compliance systems and procedures
    • Strong knowledge of branch operations, retail, small business, and commercial environments including policies and processes
    • Strong knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications

    Working Conditions:

    • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence. Limited travel domestically may be required.
