JOB SUMMARY

Signs & Pavement Markings is responsible for the management of design, installation, modification, maintenance and removal of traffic signs, speciality signs, pavement markings as well as permanent pavement markings.

You are responsible for performing tasks related to the design and production of signs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Completion of 1 year certificate in graphic design or graphic computer systems

Completion of community college diploma in Arts and Graphics is desirable

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a sign shop dealing with lettering, silk screening and graphic design along with being user competent with micro-computers

Experience must include 2 years of experience in Gerber Scientific Omega sign design software and Gerber Edge Thermal Transfer sign printers

Experience with state of the art inkjet "print and cut" technology is an asset

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES

International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Public Safety certification

KNOWLEDGE

Proficiency in the use of Windows II software is necessary
Knowledge of GIS software (E-Maps)
Knowledge of CAD software (AutoCad, Omega 3, Flexi)
Knowledge of Ontario Traffic Manuals and Highway Traffic Act
Knowledge of Transportation Association of Canada manuals
Knowledge of City of Ottawa policies and procedures (TPSS, SNS design)
SAP and Excel
Must possess training, experience and knowledge to organize the work and it performance
Must be familiar with all applicable health and safety legislation (particularly with regard to sign printing), have knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health and safety in the work place, and have knowledge of appropriate actions to be taken in order to ensure health and safety of staff in accordance with applicable legislation and city policies and procedures

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing
Driver's License Requirement: A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated
