Description:


The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for the execution of all actions required to maintain and enhance the quality and food safety programs including but not limited to Environmental Monitoring Program, Cleaning and Sanitation Effectiveness, Allergen Management and GMP throughout the manufacturing plant.

This role is responsible for ensuring that products are within specification, and that our process is in compliance with our Food Safety and Quality programs.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Conduct verifications of food safety and regulatory compliance programs to ensure Quality Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in all departments are being followed:
  • Food Safety Plan: Process, Sanitation, Allergen, Supply Chain preventative controls, calibration and verification of calibration of equipments, thermometer, scales, etc.
  • Quality Standards: net weight control, recipe control, nonconforming products/material control, identification/ traceability, label verification, finished product sampling and evaluations including organoleptic attributes of the product matches with specifications, etc.
  • Attend production shift huddles each shift in accordance with TMOS
  • Perform analytical and sensorial testing and analysis of inprocess and finished product samples according to approved standard operating procedures. Record and evaluate test data and notify the Quality Supervisor, Shift Production Supervisor and QA Manager of any deviations from the product specifications
  • Conduct root cause analysis and determine the necessary corrective action
  • Perform all inhouse test procedures including cleaning, routine maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of lab test equipment
  • Aseptically collect environmental and allergen swabs; including sample collection, documentation and packaging for laboratory analysis
  • Perform allergen protein testing, Moisture, Water Activity as per standard operating procedures and work instructions and documentation of results
  • Determine and implement corrective actions if deviations occur by following up with QA Supervisor and/or QA Manager
  • Perform verification of the Certificate of Analysis (COA) of incoming raw ingredients and record the data by adhering to plant Receiving Procedure
  • Participates and collaborate with CI Team (Continuous Improvement) in quality improvement projects
  • Assist in the investigation of customer complaints, quality incidents and deviations to standard
  • Perform administrative duties such as maintain records, forms and logs including computer databases, and performing regular inventory checks and providing the Quality supervisor with a list of required supplies
  • Performs GMP and Internal Inspections of the facility, communicates results and followsup completion of corrective actions
  • Record all the data including but not limited to quality and food safety checks into designated electronic logs
  • Upon implementation of Infinity QS, conduct training to ensure the compliance, perform all verification activities in IQS and record deviations
  • Create and maintain nonconformance log against the deviation and provide refresher training
  • Assist in providing training to all plant employees on various food safety and quality programs
  • Other duties, as assigned by QA Team Lead and/or QA Manager

Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Must have Diploma/bachelor's in food science, Microbiology, Food Chemistry or relevant field
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques, chemistry, microbiology and math skills
  • Must have good knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, HACCP, WHMIS, sanitation principles and safe handling of chemicals
  • Must be able to multitask and work well under stressful situations
  • Possess strong analytical, organizational and judgement skills
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work well as part of a team without supervision
