The Ministry of Forests is responsible for supporting a sustainable and competitive future for B.C.'s forest sector, while taking action to keep forests healthy and protect communities in the face of climate change and extreme weather events.


The Archaeology Branch is the lead provincial body responsible for administering the _Heritage Conservation Act_ (HCA) through the protection and conservation of approximately 62,000 archaeological sites in B.C., the majority of which are of First Nations origin.

Job Requirements:


  • University degree in archaeology, resource management, public administration or a related discipline AND
  • At least 5 years of recent (within the last 6 years), related experience in each of the following:
  • In a management role, leading public sector policy development and implementation and providing oral briefings, presentations and written materials to senior executives.
  • In a management role, leading public sector program development and performance management.
  • Leading the resolution of highprofile, controversial issues.
  • Managing relationships, negotiating, consulting, engaging and collaborating with stakeholders and Indigenous Nations.
  • Supervising managers and senior professionals.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and related experience may be considered.
  • Experience developing Cabinet Submissions.

Provisos:


  • Occasional overnight travel within BC is a requirement of this position.

About this Position:

This position can be based in any Ministry of Forests office.
