Classroom Assistant Pool


Work Location:
International and Indigenous Languages (36 Regatta Ave, Richmond Hill, ON L4E 4R1)


Work Schedule:3 hours per week (during program hours - weekday evenings and/or Saturday mornings), effective between the months of September to June


Salary:
$15.50/hour plus 4% vacation pay

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Support students during classroom activities through a variety of instructional strategies that best meet students' needs
  • Promote positive attitudes and encourage enthusiasm for language learning
  • Provide each student with appropriate and positive feedback that builds confidence and strength
  • Develop and maintain an equitable and inclusive learning environment
  • Communicate with the classroom instructor about students' progress and concerns (the instructor will follow up with parents/guardians and site administrators)
  • Ensure the safety of students both inside and outside the classroom for the duration of the program
  • Establish safe dismissal procedures in consultation with the classroom instructor
  • Assist students, volunteers, and instructors to restore the room to its original state at the end of the class
  • Ensure that students do not touch the belongings of day school students, teachers, and classrooms
  • Complete other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Fluency in various languages;
  • Some teaching experience (preferably language teaching);
  • Experience working with children;
  • Related education (degree or diploma, etc.).
