About this opportunity

Cenovus is currently looking for a Business Co-op student in the Finance Department for the Winter 2023 work term. You will be an integral part of the Finance Team, supporting all team members in finance and accounting-related tasks.

This position is a full-time, temporary located in our St. John's office.

West White Rose is a concrete based drilling platform, which will access resources in the western part of the existing White Rose field and use the SeaRose floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for processing within our Atlantic Region Operations.

Are you looking for an exciting Co-op/Internship opportunity full of meaningful, diverse, and challenging assignments working alongside industry leading professionals? You will be part of a driven, and collaborative team completing important projects while receiving the mentorship, knowledge, and experience to develop the skills you need to build an exciting career.


Responsibilities:


  • Assisting with month end accruals, journal entries, reporting and variance analysis.
  • Assisting with the invoice attest and accounts payable processes.
  • Assisting members of the Finance Department as they work with the business to prepare quarterly forecasts and possibly annual budgets.
  • Ad hoc support to Finance related projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Legally entitled to work in Canada for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation (e.g., work visa)
  • Available to work between May 1st and Aug 25th, 2023.


Education- Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary Business Co-op Program specializing in Accounting or Finance at an accredited post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies after the work term.- Students currently enrolled in either a Masters or P.HD program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.- Attached copies of transcripts.


Skills and Competences- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.- Strong verbal and written communications skills.- Critical thinker and ability to work independently with limited supervision in a fast-paced, high-performing team environment.- Attention to detail and accuracy, with a demonstrated ability to work independently, multi-task and meet strict and occasionally moving deadlines.- Strong interpersonal and team skills.- Excel skills an asset.
