Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.


Position Overview:


Under the general supervision of the Lead Radiochemist, the incumbent is responsible for the all maintenance and calibration of the cyclotron plus a variety of equipment in the cyclotron facility such as Tru-Motion manipulators, von Gahlen hotcells and gas compression system, QC and production equipment.

This will include performing scheduled preventative maintenance of all equipment under Health Canada GMP facility licence.

The incumbent will make sure all equipment calibration including the temperature mapping of fridges and freezers, temperature mapping of incubators and autoclave are all in compliance of Health Canada licence conditions.

The incumbent will be responsible for planning and scheduling of preventative maintenance of equipment in the cyclotron facility. As well as tracking and scheduling of required maintenance tasks.

  • Exchange of wear and tear parts.
  • Care and lubrication of moving parts.
  • Cleaning of filters, air vents etc.
  • Care measures.
  • Adjustments to factory/manufacturer specifications.
  • Verification of specified performance and functionality.
  • Documentation and detailed quality report of system condition.
  • Continuous system monitoring for optimum equipment performance.


The incumbent will be responsible for the scheduling of the maintenance and the calibration of all equipment under Health Canada GMP facility licence and ensure that they are in compliance with regulations.


  • Performs a variety of technical, electrical, electronic, computer and mechanical tasks related to the installation, modification, operation and maintenance of the Siemens Eclipse HP cyclotron, or any future cyclotron systems or upgrades, including its highvoltage power supplies, high vacuum system, RF systems and target systems.
  • Ensures that all systems are set up and functional including required interfaces.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses and conducts minor repairs on these systems. Participates in the installation and conducts minor scheduled maintenance of cyclotron related systems, vacuum pumps, helium leak detectors, cooling systems and other related components/systems as required.
  • Performs scheduled maintenance not covered under the cyclotron service contract. Assists vendor cyclotron service personnel as required.
  • Ensures the effective and efficient provision of maintenance within the Cyclotron Facility.

Experience:


  • A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience in the management of equipment quality assurance programs is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in developing, implementing and documenting equipment validation protocols is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in performance of relevant equipment maintenance is required. Previous experience operating and maintaining a cyclotron or Class II prescribed equipment is preferred.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Certified electrical, mechanical or biomedical engineering technologist or an alternative acceptable equivalent field of training required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics or Biomedical Engineering would be an asset.
  • A combination of suitable education and experience will be considered.

SPECIAL TRAINING:


  • Must be able to attend and successfully complete advanced cyclotron maintenance training courses involving classroom instruction as well as onthejob training in the operation and maintenance of the cyclotron.
  • Must be able to attend and successfully complete relevant service training courses and/or seminars on all equipment in the Cyclotron Facility such as Tru-Motion manipulators, Von Gahlen hotcells, gas compression system, HPLC, TLC, and gas chromatography.
  • In addition, the incumbent will have received the following training: Basic Radiation Safety; WHMIS; Fire Safety; Transport of Dangerous Goods; Radiation Safety Training specific to the PET Laboratory.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:
