What will you be doing in the Door Shop Associate position?
An Excellent Door Shop enables Metrie to reduce errors, labor, and cycle time while increasing accuracy and service.

The Door Shop position is responsible for ensuring the quality of products and operations processes including safety at the Distribution Center.

This position will help reduce errors, labour and cycle time while increasing accuracy and service (IFOTIS).
The Door Shop position is an hourly position that reports to the Shift Supervisor. They will also work cross-functionally with Sales, Purchasing, and Supply Chain etc. to resolve issues and drive Continuous Improvement.

Key Accountabilities

Safety:


  • Ensure you and everyone are using the safety rules specified by the Metrie and Management
  • Safety is considered to be every employee's responsibility and includes;
- utilizing equipment only when properly trained,
- utilizing appropriate equipment (if trained in use of equipment) for securing items,
- lifting techniques including utilizing equipment or a fellow associate when items are too heavy for individual lifting (Greater than 50 lbs.)

Housekeeping:


  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized facility through diligent "Lean 5S" housekeeping efforts
  • Employees are required to "clean as you work" and participate in the facilities recycling program on a daily basis
  • Employees are expected to clean up after themselves

Security:


  • Every employee is considered to be a member of the distribution center security team and as such has a responsibility for the security and integrity of the premises, inventory and company information
  • Information relative to the performance of the facility, value of the inventory and type of equipment used is private

Training:


  • Help develop standardized training and product knowledge processes
  • Ensure all new employees have the proper training and product knowledge
  • Identify employees that may need retraining or product knowledge refresher based on performance trends that don't meet expectations
  • Work with leadership team to deal with quality/receiving issues from external or internal sources
  • Ensure proper cycle count and physical inventory processes are followed

Specific Duties

  • Ensure product is accurately picked (both item and quantity) based on customer order
  • Ensure product home is accurately marked and the proper material is safely positioned for picking
  • Ensure product is properly produced based on customers specified work order
  • Ensure product is free from damage and packaged correctly for shipment
  • Ensure product is properly adjusted in the system to maintain inventory integrity
  • Ensure product is replenished properly and safely when necessary
  • Ensure customer pickups are dealt with in a timely manner and that customers are treated with respect and feel comfortable when in our facility
  • Ensure you are taking your time when performing any task, however be efficient in the tasks you are performing at all times and look for ways to improve
  • Investigate inventory variances by notifying your supervisor who will work with the Purchasing/Procurement team to adjust and resolve
  • Ensure proper receiving processes are being followed to maintain the integrity of the product and the accuracy of the count
  • Ensure QC process has been completed and notify supervision if there are any issues
  • Ensure any issues from external or internal vendors are properly investigated and resolved with Purchasing/Procurement to ensure the system inventory count is accurate
  • Ensure proper Cycle Count and Physical Inventory processes are followed to maintain the integrity of the inventory
  • Work with your supervisor and sales team to process all Returns (e.g. garbage, put into stock etc.)
  • Work with Sales to ensure proper Returns processes/policy are being followed and proper paperwork is being filled out
  • Ensure paperwork is properly placed and stored for next person
  • Ensure Aisle Ownership program is followed to promote safety, productivity and accuracy
