  • We are looking for a reliable individual who is committed to strengthbased, person focused care to join our team as an Overnight Attendant. This person will work as part of the staff team and provide overnight support to clients within our Residential Addiction Treatment Program. This is primarily a sleep position.
- **This is a permanent, part-time position, offering 27 hours every other week.

  • Regular schedule will be every other week (Friday, Saturday & Sunday), from 11pm to 8am.
  • Option to pick up additional shifts in a relief capacity, as needed and as available. Same hours.*
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the residence during the overnight hours
  • Complete safety checks
  • Establish and maintain a helping relationship with program participants while upholding appropriate professional boundaries
  • Complete administrative tasks
  • Maintain confidentiality in compliance with Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)
  • Complete documentation and data entry in line with agency and legislative requirements
  • Assess complex situations and make appropriate decisions independently with mínimal supervision, and as part of a team

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum Grade 12 high school, required
  • Previous experience in a social service setting
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Knowledge of addictions and recovery issues
  • Health and social services training
  • Sensitivity to and knowledge of issues relating to and impacting on all genders
  • Commitment to understand and uphold the mission and values of House of Friendship is expected
  • Exemplary emotional intelligence, resilience, communication, conflict management and problem solving skills required
  • Ability to work professionally as a team member with staff, participants and community members
  • Experience or strong interest in working with diverse populations including people from various cultural backgrounds, income levels, and sensitivity to their needs
  • Experience with and commitment to using an antiracism, antioppressive and trauma informed approach to consultation, program design, evaluations of processes and service delivery
  • Must be dependable, professional, flexible, a team player, and have a positive attitude
  • Respectful, supportive and engaging approach to persons with physical and/or cognitive disabilities, addictions, mental illness and other life challenges
  • Excellent project, timeline and deadline management skills including skills in logistics, planning and detailed record keeping
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR A Training (or willingness to obtain upon hiring)

5:1 ratio meaning that the highest paid team member is not paid more than 3.5 times than the lowest paid team member

  • Working Conditions:
  • Primarily a sleep position
  • Must be able to respond during crises
  • Often this role is the sole staff person on shift
  • Required to assess situations and make decisions under pressure with mínimal supervisor
  • Must remain at the facility for meals and other breaks
  • Encountering participants at program sites who may be under the influence of alcohol or other drugs, and/or experiencing symptoms of mental illness can be expected
