The Opportunity


As an important member of the KeyLeaf maintenance team, the Maintenance Labourer 1's duties may encompass all or some of the following, as appropriate to the worker's skills and the company job requirements.

The Maintenance Labourer is an in-scope position under the Collective Bargaining Agreement.


Responsibilities:


  • Upkeep of building and associated services used to carry out pilot plant research and custom production runs at KeyLeaf.
  • General repair and upkeep of KeyLeaf facilities including the main building, associated services and grounds. Janitorial duties as assigned.
  • PM of control mechanisms, pipes, and piping connections; building heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems as well as life safe equipment.
  • General housekeeping of all shop and mechanical room areas and Parts Stores.
  • Assist Contractors in daytoday operations as assigned.
  • Coordinate the purchase of required parts, tools, and other items with Operations Manager and Materials Management department to complete assigned tasks.
  • Communicate with the Operations Manager on a daytoday basis to discuss workload and assigned tasks.
  • Always follow KeyLeaf safety guidelines and work in a safe manner.
  • Maintain an uptodate knowledge/training of plant and fire safety requirements, lockout/tagout and all other applicable safety programs.
  • Maintain the area of operation in clean and safe working condition,
  • Ensure policies, safety standards, regulations and protocol are followed and adhered to.
  • Work effectively with others as a team and ensure positive and productive work relationships are maintained within the department and company.
  • Complete timecard entry in ERP system.
  • Additional duties as assigned.


Experience- High school diploma.- Fireman Boiler Operator certificate or willingness to obtain- Experience with shop tools, cleaning equipment and small hand tools.- Experience in a food processing plant environment is an asset.- Strong mechanical aptitude and demonstrated competence.

Commitment to ongoing professional development.- Good communication, innovative thinking, and problem-solving skills.- Initiative; strong planning and organizational abilities.- Ability to work in a fast-paced processing R & D environment.

Ability to handle stress, multi-task and display patience and tolerance.- Strong desire to learn.- Knowledge of shop tools operation is an asset.
