    The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is a regulatory agency that reports to the Ministry of the Attorney General. The AGCO is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming, horseracing, and private cannabis retail sectors in Ontario, in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest.

    The Information and Information Technology (I&IT) Division of the AGCO is looking for a SeniorBusiness Intelligence and Data Integration Developer. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Science and Analytics, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing and building efficient and reliable data systems, pipelines, and business intelligence solutions in a cloud environment to support reporting and analytical needs of the organization.

    In this role, the successful candidate will:

    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including business users to understand business requirements to determine technical requirements.
    • Provide subject matter expertise and partner with stakeholders to design and develop data pipelines and systems to integrate, transform and organize data from multiple data sources into reliable and easily consumable enterprise datasets to support analytics and business intelligence needs.
    • Lead in the execution of plans for migrating on premise ETL processes, database systems and pipelines onto the cloud environment.
    • Develop pipelines that prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling.
    • Prototype and build Power Platform based business intelligence solutions (e.g., reports, dashboards, analytics, Generative AI applications) to support business objectives.
    • Ensure developed process and solutions are error free by conducting unit testing, supporting peer testing and code review.
    • Review usage and performance of pipeline and data systems to ensure cloud resources are used optimally according to business needs. Redesign and adjust when opportunities exist to gain efficiency.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • A technical degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems, or another quantitative field.
    • Certification in Data Engineering, Generative AI or Business Intelligence Solutions Development is an asset.
    • Proven experience as a data developer, business intelligence developer or a similar role with experience designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines, data systems and business intelligence solutions (e.g., reports, dashboards).
    • Experience with relational databases including Oracle, SQL Server, Azure SQL Database.
    • Experience with data pipeline and model development tools such as Visual Studio, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage/Data Lake.
    • Advanced knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Python, R).
    • Experience with using MS Office Suite.
    • Knowledge of Machine Learning and Generative AI concepts.
    • Knowledge of Power Platform with expert proficiency in Power BI.
    • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
    • Experience collaborating using Azure DevOps and the agile framework.
    • Proven experience taking highly conceptual business needs and translate into a solution that can be effectively implemented.
    • Collaborative team player with effective communication and facilitation skills who can build strong relationships to solve problems.
    • The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.
