PROJECT SPECIALIST

FACULTY OF SKILLS AND FOUNDATIONAL LEARNING


NorQuesters are difference makers and we're searching for someone dedicated to finding ways forward to join our Faculty of Skills and Foundational Learning as a Project Specialist.


Reporting to the Project Manager, Settlement and Foundational Skills, the Project Specialist will support the Faculty of Skills and Foundational Learning (FSFL) in future focused, forward-thinking growth in foundational student and settlement practitioner skills development through visionary training and supports, partnerships, and engagement in the settlement and foundational learning sector.

The Project Specialist will support the faculty's development and implementation of progressive new ideas and opportunities and strengthening existing partnerships and developing new connections with settlement and foundational focused organizations and industry for increased opportunities for the faculty, students and staff in ways that attend to the needs and interests of said stakeholders.


The Project Specialist will also contribute to the efficient and effective oversight of internal and external projects including successful sourcing support and implementation of new settlement, skills, and foundational projects, settlement and foundational stakeholder capacity development initiatives, and teaching and learning innovations.


HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Support monitoring and scanning for a variety of revenue and grant opportunities including RFP/CFP to fund settlement and foundational focused projects aligned to college's and FSFL priority areas for growth and innovation.
  • Support the development of professionally written pioneering, groundbreaking, evidencebacked proposals with input from internal and external stakeholders, including gathering necessary documents, data, and evidence to back proposal decisionmaking.
  • Synthesize settlement and foundational skills bestpractices to be applied in proposal development and project implementation.
  • Support community and industry partnership development, consultations and relationship building in the settlement and foundational sector.
  • Support scaling of new projects and initiatives, creating updated work plans as required.
  • Support formalization of community and partner relationships as part of new projects and initiatives.
  • Liaise with partners on administrative and financial requirements within grant agreements.
  • Support preparation of project reports including gathering information and data as required by funder or as needed internally.
  • Ensure implementation of equity, diversity, inclusion, antiracist practices in project design and implementation.
  • Ensure projects uphold and increase division and college reputation for innovative projects producing evidence backed results and alignment with FSFL business plan.
  • Keep abreast of programs and projects happening at a municipal, provincial, and national level in the field of settlement and foundational learning.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Minimum of a bachelor's, ideally master's degree, preferably in an education, social sciences, community development, social innovation or applied linguistic related discipline.
  • 3+ years' experience in project implementation
  • Some of the projects should be educational, community, or immigration related projects.
  • Management of projects outside of Canada considered an asset.
  • Experience in a postsecondary institution preferred.
  • French language fluency considered a strong asset.

  • Critical thinking and complex problemsolving skills for more complex problems with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills in a complex, rapidly changing environment.

SALARY:
$61,635-$80,033 annually reflective upon what you bring, AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time term position until March 31, 2025 with immediate access to our great benefit programs.
