As a Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire financial operations of the company, including compliance, tax, audit, and reporting.

Additionally, you will oversee month -end close processes, balance sheet reconciliations, and working capital management. Your analytical skills will be crucial in analyzing data from various databases to support strategic decision-making.

This role will report into the VP Finance and will be a key member in leading the finance and accounting team.

You will play a pivotal role in team building, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and providing valuable insight and financial analysis to senior management to support the company's growth objectives.

This position is based out of Mississauga, ON. Trapeze employees may benefit from a hybrid work environment.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own the month end processes, ensuring timely and accurate reports and reconciliations are performed and assisting the finance and accounting team on resolving month end issues.
  • Support, mentor and lead Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions to ensure timely payments and collections, proper controls and policies are in place and reporting is accurate and available to the business for timely decision making.
  • Manage daytoday banking operations and assist parent company/intercompany as needed in cash transactions.
  • Support the accounting team in the timely reporting and maintenance of US and Canadian sales tax by province/state as well as corporate tax; transfer pricing and reporting requirements.
  • Provide leadership, guidance and coaching to direct reports (5), ensuring continual development, performance expectations and engagement, performance reviews and goal setting, and fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Have complete ownership and comprehension of the Balance Sheet
- review GL reconciliations and workbooks for accuracy etc.

  • Collaborate with Finance Business Partners and VP Finance in the forecasting processes, providing accurate an insightful information and projections.
  • Have thorough, detail comprehension and practice of revenue recognition practices and compliance with various accounting standards.
  • Drive database management and data integration efforts
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline the finance and accounting process, leading process improvement projects, research, and training, and developing pragmatic policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate and partner with upper management in many aspects of our business.
  • Participate and support in internal and external audits
  • Patriciate in other special ad hoc projects

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management
  • CPA designation (Firm experience is an asset)
  • Thorough knowledge/expertise in accounting principles, revenue recognition, and financial reporting (IFRS/US GAAP)
  • Proven track record of leading monthend close, yearend audits, driving process improvements and enhancing financial performance
  • Demonstrated experience with ERP systems and business intelligence software.
  • Minimum of 5+ years accounting or finance experience, preferably in a software industry with at least 3+ years in a management position
  • Exceptional analytical and problemsolving skills with keen attention to detail and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, BPC and/or OpenAir an asset
  • Attention to detail, timeliness on delivering commitments, and the ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and lead a team.
