Your Opportunity:


As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I - Specimen Control, you will perform specified technical functions including procurement, handling, processing as well as dispatching specimens.


Key responsibilities for this position include:

collect, receive, distribute, refer and dispose of laboratory specimens adhering to APL Laboratory Safety Standards, perform Data Entry and respond to phone calls for result inquiries.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner.

You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent phlebotomy experience - within the last 2 years. Proficient with the English Language. Extensive walking, bending and standing is required for this job.


Preferred Qualifications:

Recent experience with current Connect Care. Phlebotomy experience in an acute care hospital facility. TDG certificate and WHMIS training. Ability to work rapidly with attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrated ability to work independently.
