Responsibilities:


  • Reporting to the Head of Canadian Equities, the Equity Research Analyst will be an integral part of a closely knit team of investment professionals responsible for managing long only fundamental Canadian equity mandates.
  • The primary objective of the role is to support the investment decision making process via insights and investment recommendations. The analyst will be tasked to develop a comprehensive understanding of multiple companies in various industries and investor perceptions of them.
  • Research responsibilities include thorough industry and company analysis via broad reading, management meetings, analyst/expert calls, conferences, interaction with other investment professionals and financial modeling. Findings and investment conclusions will be presented to the investment team via written reports, presentations, weekly updates and adhoc commentary.
  • The analyst will also be required to support the platform and distribution channel for business development purposes as needed.
Requirements

  • 39 years of experience conducting fundamental equity research analysis, in either a buyside or sellside setting
  • Masters or undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and/or a CFA charterholder; absent the relevant education, a demonstrated understanding of business/economic principles, statistics and securities analysis via relevant work experience and personal interests
  • A reputation of hard work, reliability, congeniality and integrity
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration, maintain good relationships with internal and external stakeholders and relay thoughts to a variety of audiences
  • Exceptional ability to absorb information and creatively distil it to core principles
  • Ability to work independently and within a team setting
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential. Python and other coding experience a valuable asset
