CLUB PROFILE:


The Rideau Club offers its members a unique mix of social, dining and business opportunities in the heart of Ottawa, with a history dating back to 1865.

The Club is located at 99 Bank Street.

***: You will be responsible for serving food and beverage to our members and their guests in a welcoming, friendly, and clean environment.


JOB DUTIES:


  • Welcome and acknowledge each Member and guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting using names when possible.
  • Actively listen and respond positively to guests' questions, concerns, and requests using brand or propertyspecific processes to resolve issues, delight and build trust.
  • Take food and beverage orders from Members and ensure these are given to the appropriate person to execute.
  • Maintain familiarity with the composition of all menu and beverage items.
  • Serve and clear food and beverages according to standard operating procedures, but above all, in a professional, courteous manner.
  • Reset tables and chairs.
  • Ensure side stations are adequately stocked with replacement cutlery, linen, or other established needs, be they food or equipment.
  • Accurately charge Members' accounts, present the bill, and take payment from the guests per Rideau Club procedures.
  • Compliance with all safety regulations of assigned tasks and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program.
  • Adhere to all environmental policies and programs as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:


  • Valid Smart Serve Certification is required.
  • Previous food and beverage experience is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of beer, wine, and mixed drinks.
  • Professional appearance and attitude.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a cando approach.
  • Must be flexible to work a variety of shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays).
  • Prior Jonas Point of Sale System (POS) will be an asset.
  • Food and Beverage Management and Hospitality Management students are encourged.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


  • Required to move, lift, carry, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance.
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period or an entire shift.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, and pulling.
  • Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces

HEALTH & SAFETY:


  • Establish and enforce all safety policies and procedures. Ensure that employees comply with OHSA and its regulations. Correct any employee who is observed breaking a safety rule and reports to the General Manager, any employee who continues to violate safety rules.
  • Detect and eliminate, or report for correction, all physical hazards and unsafe conditions immediately by completing a Hazard Report Form.
  • Ensure that all employees use or wear any equipment, protective devices or clothing required under the Health & Safety Program.
  • Investigate all employee accidents thoroughly and immediately. Get the facts from the injured worker and witnesses and complete the necessary report forms promptly and completely. Submit these forms to the CEO and Payroll/HR administrator within 24 hours for processing.
  • When applicable, insist on immediate first aid for employee injuries. Maintain department first aid stations.
  • Actively cooperate with the Health and Safety Committee.
  • Insist on good housekeeping and enforce the "Clean As You Go" policy.
  • Maintain active involvement in the accomplishment of the accident prevention and reduction objective assigned to the department. Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of employees.
  • Be familiar with the OHSA, specifically sections 25, 26, 27, 28, 36, 51 and 5
