Position Overview:
Responsibilities and Duties:
Key responsibilities and duties of the Accounting Assistant include:
- Assist with key aspects of the accounting operations such as reporting, accounts payable and receivable, revenue and expenditure forecasting and variance analysis.
- Help prepare and monitor cashflow forecasts and financial performance against budgets and assist with the analysis and variance reporting for discussion and decisionmaking.
- Support the maintenance of proper, effective, and efficient accounting systems, processes and practices based on recognized accounting principles, policies, procedures, and guidelines while ensuring compliance.
- Assist with yearend audit processes including the review and/or preparation of working papers, schedules, analyses, and other required documentation.
- Assist with preparing and submitting accurate and timely Provincial and Federal tax remittances.
- Assist with the preparation of month and year end reports.
- Maintain accurate and uptodate financial records using accounting software.
- Assist with reviewing and processing accounts payable and receivables, and cash receipts.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as filing documents and responding to inquiries from vendors, clients, and team members.
Qualifications:
The Accounting Assistant will have the following education, experience, skills, and abilities:
- Post-secondary education in accounting or finance.
- Previous experience in an accounting or finance role is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar).
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Knowledge of accounting practices including, preparation of invoices, processing payables, cash flow forecasting.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the organization's mission.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial information.
Job Types:
Full-time, Permanent
Pay:
$40,000.00-$48,000.00 per year
