Job Description:

Reporting to the Manager, Environmental Services, Laundry and Linen, the Educator is responsible for engaging, motivating, and empowering approx. 200 highly motivated Environmental Service and Laundry & Linen employees.


Environmental Services (EVS) is staffed by a dedicated team, responsible for the deactivation of bio-contaminants and aesthetic cleanliness of the health centre which includes two off site locations.

EVS cleans approximately 800,000 square feet.

To enhance the team's effectiveness, EVS employs an Educator, responsible for ensuring that all staff proficiently use cleaning chemicals, processes, and equipment to adhere to Provincial Infectious Disease Advisory Committee (PIDAC) best practices.


The
_ Environmental Services Educator_ leads and supports quality outcomes through educational program planning, implementation, and evaluation processes to enhance knowledge, skills, and professionalism of the entire EVS team.

The mission, vision and values are aligned with the organization and are achieved through education and compliance monitoring.

As the Educator, you will oversee the ongoing skill development needs of the entire EVS program including continual monitoring and awareness of industry best practices as well as adherence to all EVS policies and procedures.

The Educator will build tools and processes for standardized evaluation of the EVS programs effectiveness.

The Educator will work collaboratively with all areas in the health care facility and with various leaders to ensure RVH EVS policies and procedures are aligned with provincial best practices and RVH standards.


Education:


  • Diploma/Degree or years of experience in a similar position
  • Post Secondary in healthcare related study an asset.
  • Novice Infection Prevention and Control Certificate an asset
  • Infection Control during construction in healthcare an asset

Experience:


  • 2 years experience in the health care industry
  • 2 years performing cleaning processes as outlined in the PIDAC best practice guidance within a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Previous experience with sound knowledge of the principles of adult education
  • Previous experience deploying infection control principles, and practices.
  • Previous experience performing as an Educator in a healthcare setting or IPAC Professional is an asset
  • Policy and Procedure development
  • Experience in a unionized environment
  • Knowledge of floor care waxing, polishing, burnishing, carpet extraction, the handling of various cleaning equipment is an asset.
  • Familiar with GHS Globally Harmonized System
  • Knowledge of CSA Canadian Standards Association standards, Waste handling, Cleaning & Disinfection in healthcare
  • Knowledge of Pharmacy hazardous and nonhazardous cleaning an asset
  • Knowledge of ORNAC National Association of Operating Room Nurses preferred
  • Advanced computer skills and ability to integrate into practice Knowledge and ability to utilize, the principles of quality improvement

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve goals and objectives within a specified time frame.

  • Working knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations in healthcare
