The Western Canada Lottery Corporation is looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team in Winnipeg for a Human Resources internship opportunity from May to August 2023.

Throughout your placement, we'll provide you with support, mentorship, and guidance from our Human Resources team.

You'll have the opportunity to attend meetings alongside our team to observe how we support our internal stakeholders through day-to-day interactions and corporate-wide initiatives.

You'll also have the opportunity to participate in the recruitment process and will be responsible for a small project related to our HR Share Point site.

This internship will provide you with valuable experience and show you what it's like to work as part of a corporate human resources department.

Internship Duties

  • Become familiar with the different HR roles and responsibilities within WCLC
  • Accompany the HR Business Partner's to gain insights into daytoday tasks and initiatives
  • Attend client group meetings where departmental & HR updates are discussed with leaders
  • Participate in the recruitment process including drafting job postings, reviewing applicants, developing interview questions, and attending interviews
  • Spearhead the review and update of current HR policies, ensuring that the content is written in a way that is relatable and understandable by the employee.

Qualifications

  • Working toward a postsecondary degree in Human Resources
  • Understanding of the basic principles of human resources
  • Experience with Sharepoint would be an asset
  • High attention to detail and accuracy of work
  • Ability to prioritize projects and assignments to meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Excellent writing and editing skills
  • Computer literacy (working knowledge of

Microsoft Office:
Outlook, Word, and Excel)

  • Team oriented, accountable, and with the ability to work independently with limited supervision

Location and Hours of Work


This opportunity is a hybrid role, which will work both in our Winnipeg office (125 Garry St) and remotely from home.

The HR intern will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week), and will report directly to the Manager, Human Resources.
