INSTRUCTOR, HEALTH CARE AIDE PROGRAM

FACULTY OF HEALTH STUDIES


Are you looking for an opportunity to shape the next generation of health care providers? NorQuesters are difference makers and we're searching for two people dedicated to making a difference to join our Faculty of Health and Community Studies team as Instructors in our Health Care Aide program.


Graduates of NorQuest College's Health Care Aide program are also Difference Makers in terms of the health care that Albertans receive.

Our students prepare for their clinical experiences with theory and hands-on learning in multiple modes of delivery, and we are proud of the varied and robust learning experiences in our programs.

We utilize low and high-fidelity simulation to augment the learner experience, providing students with a safe learning environment to practice and reflect.

We are looking for a fulltime term position until June 30, 2025.


HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:


  • Plan for and develop materials for instruction in class.
  • Carry out instructional duties in class, lab, and clinical settings.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and attitudes, maintaining a facilitative and supportive learning environment.
  • Adhere to health and safety, program, and college policies and procedures.
  • Adapt the physical environment to establish an effective climate to support learning.
  • Provide formative and summative feedback to learners in compliance with college and program policies.
  • Provide initial skill demonstration in theory class, supervise skill practice, and assess skills for competency.
  • Plan, modify, and implement individual educational plans.
  • Attend case conferences for students.
  • Input grades in PeopleSoft.
  • Maintain appropriate program and student records/reports of student progress in classroom, lab and, clinical settings.
  • Develop knowledge and skills through participation in courses, workshops, professional meetings, interaction with colleagues, and through independent study of current literature.
  • Implement Learning Improvement Plan after consultation with Program Chair or Associate Chair.
  • Provide clinical oversight in SL and LTC settings following Clinical Instruction Guide.
  • Make initial contact with facility after receiving notification from Chair or Associate Chair prior to students' first day.
  • Arrange student orientation to clinical setting.
  • Assign clients to students to meet expected program outcomes.
  • Maintain student progress notes throughout clinical.
  • Assess students based on the GLOs, SLOs, and Student Program Manual for clinical practicum.

WHAT YOU BRING:


  • Currently a RN or LPN
  • Current nursing license and a good standing membership in CLPNA/CRNA.
  • A Bachelor Degree is preferred.
  • If your education was received internationally we will require international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire.
  • Clinical experience: at least one year of fulltime clinical nursing or nursing education experience (or the equivalent in parttime experience).
  • Clinical experience in a rural setting is an asset.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations, which includes regional and rural sites.
  • Current CPR.
  • In the Health Care Aide program, we ask that you have the ability to commit to 4 weeks fulltime rotating days, Saturdays and evenings if necessary.
  • Be available to teach evening and/or Saturday classes or clinical.
  • Gerontology care experience is recommended to be successful in this role.
  • Previous formal or informal teaching experience is an asset.

SALARY:
This is a full-time term position until June 30, 2025 with immediate access to our great benefits programs.


This is a Faculty role therefore the pay range is quite large, the Faculty Association agreement outlines how pay is determined.
