RESEARCH ANALYST, STRATEGIC RESEARCH

RESEARCH & ACADEMIC INNOVATION

Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Research, the Research Analyst supports the college in meeting its strategic priorities through rigorous higher education research, applied research, environmental scanning, and policy analysis.

The position requires self-direction, strong knowledge translation, dissemination, communication skills, good relationship skills, and knowledge of research tools, methods, and procedures.


HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Coordinate and conduct research with internal and external stakeholders, including the design, administration, analysis, and reporting of surveys, focus groups, and interviews.
  • Prepare environmental scans, literature reviews, videos, dashboards, live & recorded presentations, and report summaries for diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Engage external organizations and other postsecondary institutions, including to develop new projects and as a committee member.
  • Identify internal and external research opportunities related to NorQuest College and/or the higher education system in Alberta and Canada.
  • Analyze qualitative and/or quantitative public or institutional data.
  • Identify and interpret trends in local, national, and higher education contexts, including how trends impact the future of education in Canada.
  • Maintain, contribute to, and provide knowledge mobilization for a repository of uptodate higher education trends and issues.
  • Respond to ad hoc research and environmental scanning requests from across the college.
  • Ad hoc projects and additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A Graduate Degree completed or in progress in a discipline related to the position (sociology, education, anthropology, etc.) is required.
  • 3+ years research and/or policy analysis experience.
  • Previous experience in higher education or public services sectors.

  • A combination of research skills and experience, including for stakeholder consultation, qualitative analysis, and mixed-methods analysis, and a combination of analytical ability and inductive skills is essential.
  • Proficiency in descriptive statistics and charts; advanced statistical skills are not required. Previous experience with PowerBI or similar software is an asset but not required.
  • Strong problemsolving and critical thinking skills.
  • Highly effective communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and willingness to pursue new skills, approaches, or solutions to adapt to differing situations, people, or goals.
  • Proven leadership skills with demonstrated experience working with diverse audiences, including government and executives.

SALARY:
$67,184-$83,981 reflective upon what you bring, AKA your education and experience. This is a fulltime permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
