Located in North Toronto, the Club consists of over 4000 members, with a strong presence in both the local and international social and sporting community.


The Club requires a hands-on
Banquet Manager to oversee the complete and total operation of the banquet and catering services at the Club; manage the banquet and catering service during events and deal with the necessary preparation before and after the event.

Provides a range of services for various types of events to the membership and their sponsored guests; provides administrative and operational support for all Food and Beverage areas; liaises with internal departments, activities and outside vendors.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Proactively reviews event details and requirements to ensure that staffing plans, and event details are confirmed and managed to ensure a seamless execution
  • Plans and schedules staff accordingly to ensure event details, including shift times, duties and responsibilities
  • Interacts with other departments of the Club to ensure a harmonious working relationship by communicating event details through the preparation of group resumes or group specifications in coordination with Operations and Accounting
  • Leads daily BEO briefings for all affected departments, while maintaining accurate change log updates and attends weekly BEO meetings
  • Works closely with Director of Food & Beverage and Management team to ensure operations and duties are flawlessly executed, exceeding member / client expectations.
  • Works towards meeting or exceeding goals in sales and profit for the Club in areas of responsibility
  • Maintains existing catering concepts and develops new concepts ensuring quality, service, and member satisfaction
  • Processes advanced deposits for catering functions and ensures the accuracy for billing prior to sending to members / guests
  • Manages events, making sure everything is in order, checks times and number, and liaises with kitchen, staff and members to ensure all details related to events are arranged including site inspections, buffet and/or food service setup, meeting room setup, A/V equipment, billing and any other requirements including maintaining contact with the client throughout the event as required.
  • Ensures the completion of all event billing with accuracy to ensure club meets revenue budgets.
  • Increases member satisfaction by reviewing comments / scores and ensuring prompt, courteous, and proper service, and correcting negative situations immediately
  • Assists in the promotion of all Food and Beverage outlets throughout the Club
  • Maintains warm, hospitable member and employee relations in all points of contact and communication
  • Maintains an appropriate level of community public relations
  • Operates in compliance with all local, provincial and federal laws and government regulations, ensures good safety practices of colleagues, and performs special projects as requested
  • Maintains an awareness of competition and industry trends
  • Ensures knowledge of and compliance with the operating practices and policies of the Club

Job Qualifications:


  • A minimum of five (5) years' experience in a comparable role preferably in a hotel, hospitality environment or a private members club.
  • Proven sales performance experience in meeting and exceeding sales revenue goals.
  • Postsecondary degree in Tourism or Food & Beverage or Hospitality Management; Recognized Catering Designation
  • Smart Serve Certification
  • A proven track record in the provision of an advanced level of customer service; must have the ability to meet performance standards during very busy peak periods and maintain professionalism during stressful situations
  • Must be creative and have attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with peers, managers, members and visitors
  • Energetic and outgoing, with a positive attitude, driven to provide outstanding guest service
  • Flexibility to work evenings and/or weekends depending on changing business levels
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Northstar an asset
  • Physical strength to move chairs and tables as needed
