Summary:


Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Concrete Quality Control Supervisor will help with quality management within the Ready-Mix concrete business unit while helping support the concrete operations across the GTA.

Core responsibilities include product quality; material and technology innovation; and legislative compliance.


As a Concrete Quality Control Supervisor, You Will;:


Product Quality:


  • Ensure all concrete conforms to applicable standards and best practices
  • Supervise and mentor Field Technicians to complete Product Quality related tasks
  • Monitor raw materials for compliance, communicate and verify adjustments with vendors
  • Review project specifications and collaborate with Sales Managers to bid upcoming work appropriately. Supervise operations to ensure contract compliance
  • Work closely with MTO contracts ensuring overall quality compliance

Material and Technology Innovation:


  • Maintain currency on industry best practices and take a leadership role in adapting new products into the business.
  • Contribute to industry associations to improve and advocate ready mix concrete. Maintain awareness of industry best practices
  • Actively seek new opportunities for product or technology innovation. When possible develop solutions inhouse
  • Coordinate employees and subcontractors to implement change. Monitor and evaluate performance.
  • Seek cost effective solutions, without sacrificing customer satisfaction
  • Collaborate on carbon initiatives within the concrete industry

Legislative Compliances:


  • Ensure business unit's practices conform to all regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure product compliance to applicable specifications (i.e. admixtures, aggregates, cement)
  • Assist operations' compliance to governing agencies including MTO, MOL, MOECC.
  • Oversee RMCAO certification at concrete plants

What You'll Bring?:


  • Engineering or Technologist degree and minimum 3 years experience in a concrete technical position
  • Strong technical knowledge of concrete production and construction methods
  • Knowledgeable in the use of Command systems (ie. Command Batch, Command Series, Command QC)
  • Leadership skills to communicate with and motivate employees
  • Computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft, plant automation, dispatch software, and app development
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Supervisory experience
  • Ability to work independently and effectively
  • Physical ability to lift heavy aggregate and concrete samples (approx. 30lbs)
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wideranging climates and environment
  • Vehicle and valid drivers license
  • Willing to work flexible hours determined by demanding construction schedules, including nights and weekends
