Manager Workplace Accessibility and Inclusion Centre

Faculty of Research and Academic Innovation


At the Workplace Accessibility and Inclusion Centre (WAIC), we provide customized consulting and contract services to employers across Canada seeking to hire, retain, and support neurodiverse employees and employees with disabilities.


Reporting to the Director of the Colbourne Institute for Inclusive Leadership, the Manager will provide entrepreneurial expertise and experience in organizational leadership related to pan-disability accessibility and inclusion in the workplace.

The role oversees the Centre's strategic plan, brand, quality, reputation & relationships, growth, research, revenue generation and management of the Workplace Accessibility & Inclusion Center (WAIC).


HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Work with an Accessibility Consultant to develop training curriculum for clients.
  • Create strategic plans, annual business plans and revenue forecasting in collaboration with the CILL Director, Dean and Vice Dean.
  • Create the WAIC brand and promote recognition and impact for the WAIC.
  • Directly provide strategic leadership support and delivery of consulting, professional development, and contract service activities to clients, community, and contracted experts.
  • Provide academic leadership in the applied research, disability community engagement, and educational development.
  • Recruit, manage, coach and assess the ongoing performance of all WAIC staff and contractors.
  • Report impact, partnerships, financial progress to targets on a regular basis and set targets for activity and associated revenue annually and quarterly.
  • Provide employers in Alberta and across Canada with feebased services and resources that will create more accessible workplaces and facilitate the integration of disabled populations into workplaces across Canada.
  • Respond to RFQs and champion development of new research initiatives for disability accessibility and inclusion programming, research, evaluation, and educational methodologies, professional development, and/or training with wide dissemination of results.
  • Establish and support original and applied research projects in workplace disability accessibility and inclusion.
  • Establish partnerships with communities and organizations that support the ongoing work at the WAIC.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Related MA degree (in Social Sciences, Accessibility studies, Gender Studies, Adult Education, or a related field (equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu).
  • Considerable related experience in leadership roles, and experience in entrepreneurship, business development, consulting, training, and research is preferred. Being a recognized community leader in accessibility.
  • Considerable related experience of instruction and/or facilitating accessibility training in the public and private sector.
  • Additional professional development in EDI, Accessibility, and associated areas.
  • Additional professional development in leadership training.
  • Understanding of instructional design theories, methodologies, and best practices
  • Extensive knowledge of systemic inequities, EDI theory and practice and Human Rights legislation.
  • MBA or PMP designation would be an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

SALARY:
$98,462-$123,048 annually reflective of what you bring, aka your education and experience. This is a fulltime permanent position with immediate access to our great pension and benefit programs.
