    Tutor & Academic Coach, Math and Science

    NorQuesters are individuals who make a significant impact, and we are in search of a candidate who can utilize learning theory, universal design principles, and essential knowledge from the Alberta K-12 curriculum to aid in learner success. As a Tutor-Coach, you will work one-on-one with foundational and post-secondary students, including those with disabilities and those with English as an additional language, to support their academic progress by meeting them where they are and collaborating with the Student Services team.

    The position of Tutor & Academic Coach (Math and Science) involves offering both in-person and online support to students in various NorQuest courses and programs, covering high school Math and Science, post-secondary courses in health sciences, business, technology, and introductory university courses like Calculus I and Statistics. You will have the chance to explore new curriculum, experiment with diverse teaching approaches, and contribute to innovation as we align our services with the college's strategic objectives and commitment to Indigenization, decolonization, and becoming an anti-racist entity.

    How you'll make a difference

    Provide tutoring and academic coaching support to students

    • Assess learning needs and provide tailored tutoring and academic skill development coaching
    • Co-create personalized learning strategies using a strengths-based approach
    • Create a safe, inclusive, and holistic learning environment for all students

    Liaise with various college departments to offer comprehensive academic support

    • Develop strong, collaborative relationships with assigned program areas
    • Coordinate with different college services to manage the learning space effectively and make necessary referrals

    Implement projects and initiatives to boost academic success

    • Contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of support initiatives

    Contribute to improving educational practices and service excellence

    • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities

    Contribute to operational excellence

    • Participate in various operational functions to enhance service delivery
    • Track usage metrics for informed decision-making

    What you bring

    • A Bachelor's or Graduate degree in Education and progress towards or completion of a Master's degree
    • Specialization in Math and Sciences with the ability to apply knowledge to post-secondary courses
    • Experience in working with diverse learners, especially those with additional language needs or disabilities
    • Knowledge of learning theory and experience with Universal Design

    SALARY: $59,974 to $77,877, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time position until June 30, 2025, with immediate enrollment in benefits.
