JOB:
Working under the direction of the Senior Research Scientist (Viral Hepatitis Research Program) and the Director of the Epidemiology & Population Health Program, the Research Coordinator assists in the planning, development, and implementation of various provincial, national, and international studies focused on hepatitis C virus (HCV) and healthcare utilization.
This position would work collaboratively with the research team including an Epidemiologist, data analyst and other research coordinators.ORGANIZATION:
The BC-CfE currently employs a team of Statisticians, Programmers, Data Managers, Clinical Research Assistants, Data Analysts, and Data Entry Clerks who work collaboratively on cohort-based epidemiological and clinical studies, and a program of qualitative research.
The BC-CfE is a world-renowned HIV/AIDS Research Centre including Research Laboratory, Clinical Trials, Drug Treatment Program, Epidemiology, and Professional Education Programs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates the development, implementation, and maintenance of research studies and projects;
- Coordinates administrative tasks related to research studies (i.e., approvals, organizational forms, ethics certificates, etc )
- Supervises and mentors other research staff (e.g., Research Assistants, Students)
- Contributes to the design and creation of communications and public relations tools
- Coordinates meetings among community, staff, research teams, and support staff
- Assists with various administrative tasks associated with the daytoday operations of research studies and projects
- Supports data analysis, grant writing, and academic manuscript development
- Preparation and development of abstracts, posters, and other presentations for conferences and knowledge translation events
- May work closely with professionals in the community and be involved in creating publicity to promote research, providing information to and between a wide range of organizations and groups
- Supports, develops, and evaluates strategies that encourage community participation in research activities
- Administrative work, which may include written correspondence, preparing submissions, and reports
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's degree in Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Public Health, or Biostatistics
- Minimum of two years of related professional experience in a health research setting
- Clear understanding of the academic research process acquired through both practical and academic experience
- Dedication to work that enhances healthcare experiences and health equity
- An understanding of the structural and social determinants of health
- Strong understanding of epidemiologic principles and experience interpreting epidemiologic data
- High degree of attention to detail (thoughtful and intentional in their work)
- An ability to develop, plan and support epidemiological investigations within administrative databases and clinical registries
- Experience in preparing documents, reports, and communication materials for research
- Strong writing skills (both for academic and nonacademic audiences)
- Excellent project organization, implementation, and networking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with underserved and/or marginalized populations
- Detailoriented, organized and prepared
