Come and help us make a difference to the Canadian innovation and sustainability agenda.**Purpose: Reporting to the Manager, People & Culture, the Business Partner, People & Culture will advise on the People & Culture policies and procedures at SDTC. Areas of responsibility include various aspects of talent management such as, recruitment, onboarding/offboarding, HRIS management, policy and program development, positive employee relations, employee engagement, learning and development, total rewards, and supporting the overall corporate goals.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Talent Acquisition
- Oversee the full recruitment cycle which includes, job analysis, job descriptions, job postings, screening, interviews, salary analysis, employment checks to contract preparation.
- Advise hiring manager on recruitment and selection strategies.
- Monitor key recruitment metrics and recruitment trends, make recommendations, and implement changes.
- Ensuring the recruitment process is aligned with current legislation and supports the corporate goals.
- Oversee implementation of the onboarding program.
- Lead the Student program in collaboration with the People & Culture Student.
- Support with revisions and evaluations of compensation and benefits as the programs evolve.
- Support the Health and Wellness program.
- Advise employees on individual benefits and Group RSP questions, develop user guides and update information when required.
- Support with the development, implementation and evaluation of learning initiatives that align to the corporate goals.
- Provide coaching on the various learning tools to support career development.
- Responsible for maintaining employee records and employee information in the HRIS repository and prepare a variety of employee reports.
- Analyze information, statistical data, and reports to identify and develop recommendations for improvement of policies and practices as appropriate.
- Partner with leaders to ensure positive employee relations within the organization.
- Conduct internal surveys to gather feedback and identify areas of improvement.
- Support internal communication of P&C policies, procedures and change processes.
- Work with Manager, People & Culture on various projects.
- Provide backup support for the Manager, People & Culture.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
Education:
College or university level education or work experience in related field. Working towards CHRP/CHRL designation is considered an asset.
Experience:
- Minimum 35 years of HR generalist experience in human resources
- Working knowledge of BambooHR, and Microsoft SharePoint an asset.
- Experience with HR Downloads is an asset.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of labour legislation and payroll processes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Bilingualism is an asset.
- Ability to balance multiple projects at once.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and with others to complete projects in remote work environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of all information received.
- Superior knowledge of MS Office and HRIS software.
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt to a very fluid, rapidly changing environment.
