Reporting to the Vice President, Care Experience and Equity at Unity Health Toronto, the Manager, Toronto Opioid Overdose Action Network (TO2AN) will provide strategic and operational leadership to support a systems-level approach to the overdose crisis across hospital, community, and public health partners.

The Manager will work alongside the Network Implementation Committee Co-Chairs (one is the Vice President, Care Experience and Equity at Unity Health Toronto, and the other is the CEO of the South Riverdale Community Health Centre) and members to lead and oversee the collaborative development, implementation, administration, and evaluation of Network efforts and ensure high quality outcomes that centre the needs and expertise of people who use drugs.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Utilizing community expertise, environmental scan findings, and collaborative approaches, provide strategic and operational oversight to the TO2AN network, inclusive of both community, public health, and hospital partners
  • Work with implementation committee cochairs, Network stream leads, and committee members to support the appropriate allocation of funds to Network partners
  • Support the administration of the Network Steering Committee, facilitating connections, meetings, advocacy briefs, and material creation
  • Provide Network oversight on the development of deliverables and network targets
  • Lead the development of a comprehensive work plan to support activities for increased Network collaboration and coordination across TO2AN streams
  • Assist with Network evaluation activities by working with evaluation teams to support research activities
  • Support and facilitate Network committees including the Implementation and Steering Committees
  • Identify and lead network projects which emphasize crossstream integration and shared work
  • Represent the Network at relevant local, regional and provincial tables addressing the overdose crisis
  • Develop and sustain partnerships to meet the objectives of the Network
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for new projects, proposal development, and/or funding opportunities
  • Ensure effective internal and external communication and information dissemination activities
  • Liaise with Ontario Health and the Ministry of Health partners as needed
  • Lead advocacy efforts to advance systemic investments and coordination to address the overdose crisis
  • Oversee and complete all reporting requirements
  • Lead the ongoing development of the Network, including exploring new avenues for connection and reviewing and/or the creation of structures, policies, agreements etc. as required
  • Support the community engagement program, which supports 56 people with lived experience of drug use to participate in Network activities
  • Provide support and supervision to Coordinator, Toronto Opioid Overdose Action Network
  • Work in partnership with Anishnawbe Health Toronto to support a funded position to work across the Network to improve access to services for Indigenous people who use drugs
  • Strong and demonstrated commitment to, and experience with harm reduction
  • Strong and demonstrated commitment to working with people who use drugs
  • Strong leadership skills, strategic and innovative thinking with the ability to develop and maintain partnerships with multiple diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience leading initiatives/projects with multiple partners and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated respect for diversity, equity and accessibility with the ability to work collaboratively and positively with others
  • Strong initiative with exceptional organizational skills to manage competing priorities and balance multiple projects
  • Excellent advocacy, communication and negotiation skills
  • Commitment to the vision, goals, and work of the Network
  • Strong change management and project management skills
  • Lived experience of drug use an asset.
  • Maintains responsibility for developing and executing human resources strategies for attracting, hiring, managing, developing and motivating union and nonstaff;
  • Provides direction/leadership for the team as a coach and mentor; defines accountabilities while directing and supporting the achievement of performance goals, within functional area of responsibility;
  • Conducts performance reviews, of direct reports on an annual basis and/or as required to ensure excellent in the provision of work activities; takes appropriate corrective action, where appropriate, up to and including termination, as required to meet identified departmental needs;
  • Establish, organize and implement strategies within the portfolio and is responsible for the operations of its departments as well as the effective use of its resources (budget, staffing, etc).
