POSITION OVERVIEW

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directs supervisors and staff to operate the facility
  • Works with Regional Manager and VP, Operations to set annual budget for the yard, taking into account: equipment condition; environmental necessities; operational needs; business growth
  • Develops lifelong customer and partner relationships in the region leading to increased revenue and margins for the region
  • Oversees environmental, health & safety programs and processes to create a safe environment for all employees, customers and visitors
  • Assists in the development of facility standards operating procedures
  • Manages all facility human resources processes including training and performance management
  • Identifies and implements continuous improvement opportunities
  • Partners with corporate business development team and with other GMs at other ABC (or partner) locations to expand the company's customer base and service offerings

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years previous experience of all aspects of operations/distribution management of a satellite business location, including people management.
  • 3+ years' experience running a profit centeroriented business model
  • Adept at sales and business development and proven ability to win new customers and accounts.
  • Experienced in implementing continuous improvement and quality assessment programs.
  • Comfortable with using MS Office suite and capable of working with computer software programs.
  • Ability to develop and build relationships both internally and externally to the organization.
  • Experience in the scrap metal processing industry is an asset.
  • Degree or diploma in a related postsecondary program is an asset.
  • Excellent collaborator and problem solver.
  • Proven entrepreneurial or business growth acumen.
