POSITION OVERVIEW
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs supervisors and staff to operate the facility
- Works with Regional Manager and VP, Operations to set annual budget for the yard, taking into account: equipment condition; environmental necessities; operational needs; business growth
- Develops lifelong customer and partner relationships in the region leading to increased revenue and margins for the region
- Oversees environmental, health & safety programs and processes to create a safe environment for all employees, customers and visitors
- Assists in the development of facility standards operating procedures
- Manages all facility human resources processes including training and performance management
- Identifies and implements continuous improvement opportunities
- Partners with corporate business development team and with other GMs at other ABC (or partner) locations to expand the company's customer base and service offerings
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years previous experience of all aspects of operations/distribution management of a satellite business location, including people management.
- 3+ years' experience running a profit centeroriented business model
- Adept at sales and business development and proven ability to win new customers and accounts.
- Experienced in implementing continuous improvement and quality assessment programs.
- Comfortable with using MS Office suite and capable of working with computer software programs.
- Ability to develop and build relationships both internally and externally to the organization.
- Experience in the scrap metal processing industry is an asset.
- Degree or diploma in a related postsecondary program is an asset.
- Excellent collaborator and problem solver.
- Proven entrepreneurial or business growth acumen.
