Job Description:
Reporting to the Vice-President of Advancement, the Director of Advancement Services is responsible for harnessing the power of data, systems and processes to support the development and execution of fundraising, alumni engagement and communication strategies.
Using best practices in data analytics, modelling and reporting, the incumbent plays a critical role in the assessment and on-going growth of the College's overall donor pipeline and in the data management of alumni connections and communications.
The Director of Advancement Services works closely with the Vice-President, Advancement and Strategy to ensure all support systems are in place for the fundraising and alumni relations activitiesResponsibilities include the:
support for comprehensive and capital fundraising campaigns, development of the Advancement Business Plan, preparation of financial reports to the Board of Governors and the Algonquin College Executive Team, and management of the department's budget.
The Director also provides coordination of all human resources matters, including space and resource support, linking with the various administrative departments of the College as needed.
A key role of the Director of Advancement Services is the development, implementation, maintenance, documentation, use and support of the database and ensuring the integrity of the data, its analysis and the production of reports to inform strategic action.
To support the fundraising and alumni relations activities, the incumbent ensures that the advancement policies and procedures are clear, adhered to and regularly reviewed.
They lead and manage the operations to support the fundraising and alumni relations activities including internal and external reporting, research, fund creation/maintenance, gift processing, gift acknowledgement, alumni documentation, and record management.
They also assist with the implementation of the donor relations plan.
The Director is also responsible for a portfolio of major gift donors with an emphasis on in-bound expressions of interest for college-wide priorities and donations of gifts-in-kind.
The Director is responsible for maintaining relationships with donors through the planning and implementation of effective fundraising and stewardship programs and works collaboratively with the Director of Philanthropy and their team.
The incumbent leads a team that includes a Prospect Researcher & Analyst, and a Coordinator, Finance & Gift Processing, and ensures the team works collaboratively with all the different resources within the Advancement Department as well as the various College departments and units they interact with.
In this leadership role, the incumbent is a key advisor to the Vice-President, Advancement and Strategy and the Advancement Management Team regarding the operations and support systems for fundraising and alumni engagement.
The incumbent has sound business knowledge and skills, solid experience in data management and strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a proven track record in strategic planning.
KEY DUTIES INCLUDE:
Major Gift Fundraising- Support the development and execution of the major gift donor revenue program and annual giving programs in conjunction with the Director of Philanthropy, to confirm multi-year financial commitments for approved College priorities;- Develop and implement individualized engagement strategies for prospective and existing major gift donors through solid management of the donor cycle encompassing prospect identification and qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and then recognition and stewardship stages;- Maintain relationships with individual donors through the planning and implementation of an efficient, effective, and donor-focused stewardship program, which includes personalized recognition of major gift donors;- Inform annual fund solicitation strategies to mobilize large numbers of individual donors using data modelling and a-b testing;- Facilitate the evaluation and acceptance of complex donations of gifts-in-kind, including equipment, vehicles and software.
