About the position:

We are seeking an innovative and dedicated individual to join our forward-thinking Identity and Access Management (IAM) Portfolio within the Cyber Security Division


Reporting to the Assistant Director, Cyber Access Control you will be part of a dynamic and highly skilled team of cyber specialists enabling Canada's Central Bank to work securely.

With the increase in sophistication and frequency of cyber-attacks, cyber security has been identified as a top priority at the Bank of Canada.

What you will do

More specifically you will:

  • Lead development, support and maintenance of the technologies and services that provides authentication, authorization and identity verification focusing on the services for Bank's trusted external business partners
  • Provide production operational support and work with operational support groups to determine the root cause behind critical production incidents and process challenges.
  • Lead initiatives to address appropriate work from the support backlog to mitigate recurring incidents in the future.
  • Participate in all phases of the product/DevOps life cycle to enhance the required cyber controls, adding technical knowhow, creativity, and a seasoned perspective to delivering on IAM objectives in alignment with the Bank of Canada's Cyber Security Strategy.
  • Guide and provide onthejob training, coaching and support to more junior colleagues.
  • Drive thought leadership, consistent development processes and coding practices across scrum teams.

What you need to succeed


You are a leader by example, with the ability to effectively communicate to build and maintain strong relationships and collaborate in a team environment.

You also have a strong attention to detail, are a self-starter, and capable of grasping new information and providing innovative solutions within the team


In addition, you have:

  • Handson experience with CA API Layer7 Technologies (formerly known as Layer7 Technologies) as an API Management/Gateway platform
  • Experience with SailPoint IdentityIQ and/or IdentityNow
  • Experience with identity protocols and standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect and SCIM; indepth knowledge of Single Sign On and delegated access technologies (SAML 2.0, Kerberos)
  • Good understanding of Web security and ability to troubleshoot and act as the identity and access management Subject-MatterExpert (SME) in a complex, major enterprise environment

Nice to have:


  • Any relevant cyber security or IAM certifications (CISSP, GIAC, etc.)
  • Experience with containers, such as PaaS RedHat/OpenShift, Docker, AKS
  • Experience with SSL/TLS, PKI and certificatebased authentication, LDAP, HTTP Proxies and Web Servers
  • Good understanding of basic networking, Web Services protocols such as REST, SOAP and API design for extensibility and portability as well as XML/JSON data formats
