JOB INFORMATION:


  • This posting is for current and upcoming opportunities which may involve working night shift with Thursday/Friday as off days and various work reporting locations, which may vary as directed by work assignments.
    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Trainees follow a 12 month program involving the safe and efficient operation of motorized equipment and non
  • revenue rail vehicle operations
  • Attaining and maintaining proficiency in work involving: the safe and efficient operation of nonspecialized work cars such as flat cars, locomotives, wall washing units, rail cleaning cars, rail grinding cars, ballast cars, steelwheeled snow removal equipment, etc.
  • Attaining and maintaining proficiency in work involving: nonrevenue rail vehicles for the delivery of tools, materials, supplies, parts and equipment to various TTC locations and work sites; loading and unloading cargo; pushing/pulling nonpowered cars; grinding rails, washing/cleaning of walls and rails, spreading of ballast, etc.
  • Successful completion of training programs for workcar monitor, workcar operations modules 1 through 4 and SRT workcar initial to qualify for the operation of various of nonspecialized workcars such as flat cars, locomotives, wall washing units, rail cleaning cars, rail grinding cars, ballast cars, steelwheeled snow removal equipment, etc.
  • Operating battery recharging equipment, performing daily service checks on workcars, performing Track Maintainer duties, and assisting with a wide variety of manual tasks
  • Successful completion of training programs for Subway/SRT Rulebook, first aid, C.P.R. and WHMIS
  • Upon successful completion of the training program, you will be classified as a Workcar Operator in Wage Group
  • Responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within the area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a serviceprovider and an employer

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Completion of a Grade 12 education, or its recognized equivalent as determined by the Training Department
  • Completion of the Way Training
  • Track Maintainer Training Program
  • Ability to comprehend verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to speak clearly in order to exchange information
  • Possess a valid nonprobationary Class "G" Province of Ontario Driver's Licence
  • Ability pass a vision test and an established pretest set by the Training Department
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers and employees
