Grade 10 ($83,214 to $110,952 per annum)

As a part of a collaborative management team, the Manager is responsible for strategy, planning and coordination, instructional support and development, budget monitoring, and internal and external representation and communication.

Some Typical Duties:


  • Under approval of the Executive Director and in alignment with Emily Carr policy and governance processes, researches and develops fulltime and parttime curricula, and creates new and relevant programs, workshops, curriculum proposals and partnerships, which are responsive to current demands within the area.
  • Oversees and manages fulltime credential programs, such as Communication Design Essentials and Interaction Design Essentials, with multiple intakes per year.
  • Develops and oversees admissions processes and tuition support resources.
  • In consultation with the Executive Director, ensures all aspects of quality program development, delivery, documentation, and credentialing practices and processes.
  • Participates actively in the annual and ongoing budget development with the Executive Director and Manager of Operations, including determining revenues, salary and operating costs, monitoring budgets and making key decisions in reductions and/or additions as they relate to CS program profiles.
  • Meets set revenue targets and contributes to meeting overall CS revenue targets by making key decisions relating to the running or canceling of courses.
  • In consultation with the Executive Director, establishes positive working relationships and liaises with industry, governing bodies and other sectorbased organizations, including secondary and postsecondary institutions to ensure curriculum alignment and best practice, increase revenue opportunities, and develop market potential.
  • Manages full cycle recruitment, orientation, and monitoring of instructors and project staff within the program area, including hiring, performance management, and termination of instructional and project staff contracts in alignment with CS profiles and policies.
  • Supervises Coordinator of Credential Programs and Administrative Assistant for CS Programs, participates in the recruitment, training, development and managing of these roles.
  • Provides support to CS instructors across all aspects of program delivery and administration, serving as department lead on teaching + learning resources, and liaising with the ECU Teaching and Learning Centre.
  • In collaboration with Executive Director and Manager of Operations, develops student and instructor policies and handbooks relevant to all CS programming areas.
  • Works in conjunction with the Executive Director and Manager of Operations to develop and implement longterm strategic plans, researches and compiles program information, and completes a variety of reports to support CS program growth and funding initiatives.
  • Supports and advises students in fulltime credential programs on issues related to recruitment, admissions, portfolio assessment, academic performance, conduct, professional opportunities, and related student services. Supports and advises students in parttime certificate programs on issues related to courses and certificate pathways.
  • Provides constructive feedback to prospective students regarding their portfolios in a manner that represents Emily Carr positively.
  • Plans and implements programrelated special events.
