8:30am to 4:30pm / Monday to Friday (Telecommuting Options Available)

Pay Grade H ($53,074 to $56,821 per annum)

  • As the Alumni Relations Officer, you will coordinate alumni engagement and outreach, and provide support to the University Advancement office through a variety of initiatives. The Officer reviews initiatives to determine their level of success after completion, and makes recommendations for potential changes. The Officer participates in the development of communication plans, systems, and processes, that support Alumni Relations and Advancement fundraising initiatives. The Officer supports the development of partnerships, builds relationships with alumni and campus colleagues and identifies emerging opportunities for alumni engagement. This position may include occasional event support and evening and weekend overtime work.

Some Typical Duties Include:


  • In collaboration with the Advancement team, supports the development of a comprehensive Annual Appeal + Membership Plan that encompasses and addresses philanthropic objectives (financial and philosophical), prospect identification, research, donor cultivation, stewardship, and recognition.
  • Develops communication plan and social marketing, for approval by the Manager, to support alumni engagement on a local, provincial, national and international level. Organizes content calendars on an ongoing basis for editorial, newsletter, social, and Instagram as related to alumni relations. Defines key performance indicators and measures, for approval by the Manager, and analyses and reports on communications efforts.
  • Produces and maintains visual and written content for all platforms using a combination of Photoshop and Canva. Schedules content through Social Media Management tools, WordPress and Mailchimp.
  • Manages the Leeway platform, creating and curating content to engage alumni with mentorship, events listings, job postings, and social networking opportunities. Ensures functionality of the platform, troubleshooting and liaising with the vendor as needed.
  • Responsible for development of innovative ways of connecting with and engaging our alumni. Researches industry best practices and makes recommendations for changes to the alumni mentorship program and specific Alumni Relations programs, group perks, and offers, to the Manager.
  • Researches alumni prospects for editorial content, conducts interviews, and writes, edits for approval by the Manager, and schedules, editorial content on ECUAA website and social media channels.
  • Coordinates with Communications Officer for shared editorial content and social media communications. Liaises with Communications regarding editorial schedules and newsletter content. Participates in Communication department editorial meetings.
  • Cultivates campus and community relationships for Alumni Relations through interdepartmental collaboration on programming. In consultation with the Manager, may develop and initiate program collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Researches, negotiates and engages with affinity partners. With the Manager, collaborates with vendors to enhance the Alumni experience by offering a diverse range of benefits, services, and savings to Alumni.
  • Works to broaden the scope of the Alumni Association through coordinating outreach activities such as community events and conferences. Assists the gallery team of the ECUAA board with coordination for opening receptions for exhibiting alumni artists.
  • Collaborates with the Manager and ECUAA Board to build and recruit a network of Alumni Champions, nationally and internationally. With the Manager, creates and implements annual goals and milestones to increase alumni visibility worldwide.
