Job PostingDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**- Design curriculum that aligns with the Girls United Program Goals and Objectives. This includes scheduling, planning, and the participation in daily activities and events.

  • Develops and implements ongoing evaluation strategies for Girls United Program.
  • Submits regular reports, track statistics, maintain a budget, and other administrative duties as needed.
  • Assist in the development and creation of a mentorship program to be utilized with future participants of the Girls United Program.
  • Assist in the management of risk and adhere to safety and crisis protocols and polices.
  • Network with community groups and organization to provide additional resources and engagement opportunities for participants of the Girls United Program
  • Demonstrate teamwork and professionalism while developing positive relationships with youth, families, the public, internal and external colleagues, and management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • One year work or volunteer experience in a social service environment working with atrisk youth and their families in a culturally diverse and/or lowincome community.
  • Experience designing curriculum, scheduling and planning program activities, facilitation, and supervision in a youth group setting.
  • Knowledge and/or experience implementing program evaluations.
  • Experience with conflict management and behaviour management with youth.
  • Experience with crisis and intervention skills an asset.

Technical / Job Specific Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of working in a community setting with families living in unsafe, highrisk situations.
  • Knowledge of resources, supports, organizations, and opportunities across HRM available to youth and their families.
  • Current certification in Emergency First Aid and Level C CPR.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Drivers License required and access to a reliable vehicle an asset.
  • Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) an asset.

Security Clearance Requirements:
Applicants may be required to complete an employment security screening check.-

WORK STATUS: Casual/Seasonal - May 23rd, 2023 to September 1st, 2023
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday 8:30am

  • 4:30pm. Must be flexible/some evening and weekend work required.

SALARY:

Non Union, $19.30 per hour (plus 4% vacation pay)
WORK LOCATION: St. Andrew's Community Centre, 3380 Barnstead Lane, Halifax. Travel to other recreation centers will occur weekly.
