Application & Infrastructure Analyst II

  • Technology Delivery & Operations
  • Perform complex endtoend solution delivery and maintenance for small systems design, or enhancements to large systems
  • Actively maintain recognized expertlevel knowledge in multiple identifiable specialisms. Provide definitive and expert advice in the specialist area(s)
  • Use infrastructure management tools to determine load and performance statistics
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of maintenance and installation work, including building and configuration of infrastructure components in virtualized and cloud environments
  • Problem solving and analysis
  • Act as a specialized resource with deep skills in a specific technology(s)
  • Initiate and monitor actions to investigate and resolve problems in systems, processes, and services
  • Determine problem fixes/remedies. Assist with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures
  • Test & Support
  • Respond to equipment malfunctions, unusual or other situations that impact system performance, perform diagnostics and other problemsolving activities, and implement remedial procedures as required
  • Accept responsibility for the creation of test cases using own indepth technical analysis of both functional and nonfunctional specifications (such as reliability, efficiency, usability, maintainability, and portability)
  • Create traceability records, from test cases back to requirements
  • Review system software updates and identifies those that merit action
  • Tailor system software to maximize hardware functionality
  • Install and test new versions of system software. Investigate and coordinate the resolution of potential and actual service problems
  • Maintenance, Planning & Configurations
  • Maintain an ongoing awareness and understanding of new and enhanced technological development
  • Research current available technologies to meet customer needs
  • Provide advice and guidance to support the adoption of methods and tools and adherence to policies and standards
  • Tailor processes in line with agreed standards and evaluation of methods and tools
  • Verify and approve changes ensuring the protection of assets and components from unauthorized change, diversion, and inappropriate use

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a related discipline and 4 years relevant experience
  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade or GED
  • Post secondary diploma in a related discipline and 5 years relevant experience or 1 year related certificate and 7 years relevant experience
  • Technical experience in a computing environment similar to the City of Edmonton's:
  • Cloud computing (Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform) training is highly desired
  • Connecting Technologies team specific licenses and/or certifications:
  • Cloud computing certifications (Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform) are considered an asset
  • VMware VCP in End-User Computing is an asset
  • Citrix certification including Citrix Netscaler is an asset
  • Other technology specific certifications and diplomas related to the work are are considered an asset
  • Advanced working knowledge of cloud computing platforms (Azure, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform)
  • Working knowledge of software fax solutions (Open Text RightFax)
  • Working knowledge of digital signage components and content solutions
  • Working knowledge of SMTP relay concepts
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2019 operating system and newer
  • Knowledge of VMWare vSphere 8.0 and newer
  • Knowledge of MS Active Directory and Group Policies
  • Knowledge of PowerShell scripting
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes
  • Ability to use Remedy for work order creation and resolution
  • Ability to participate in a 24/7 oncall support
  • Proficient with the use of Google G Suite productivity tools
  • Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
