The Open Learning Resource Assistant supports the adoption, adaptation, and creation of Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Access (OA) resources.

Providing responsive customer service, the incumbent is responsible for organizing appropriate and existing open educational resources and open-access resources for Curriculum Guides and Open Project Leads.


Responsibilities:


  • Searching multiple OPEN Education repositories by topic, program, and course outcomes as requested
  • Identifying gaps in available open content for clients
  • Assessing open license and metadata for open use, for example repurposing allowed or redistributing only
  • Organizing content, including digital textbooks, case studies, simulations, images, videos, audio recordings, and instructor resources
  • Compiling organized content into databases and tagging it for ease of discoverability
  • Reviewing and updating databases regularly for ease of use by clients and the Open Learning team
  • Compiling metadata information for tagging
  • Inputting requests and turnaround time data into customer service logs
  • Notifying members of the Open Learning team when searches have been completed to facilitate timely consultation scheduling
  • Notifying members of the Open Learning team when turnaround times do not meet customer service needs
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Twoyear Diploma in Library Technician/Technology, Information Technology, Data Management, Business Administration, Executive Office Administration, or a related field
  • One year of practical work related experience
  • Experience with information search using Google Scholar, information repositories, and reference management software
  • Experience with information and database management, utilizing database management software, metadata input, and tagging
  • Experience with HTML, CSS and SEO is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of Creative Commons licensing, Open Educational Resources (OER), and Open Access (OA) resources is considered an asset
  • Project management experience is considered an asset
  • Excellent customer service skills, analytical, and problemsolving skills
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, Forms, and Word
