Reporting to a Family Guide Safety and Wellness Manager, the Family Guide Safety and Wellness Specialist-Family Evalutaor is a social service position within the Courts Division, Family Resolutions Services Branch of the Department of Justice.

The Family Guide Safety and Wellness Specialist-Family Evaluator has responsibility for providing high quality services to Manitobans seeking guidance, support, and information through the Family Resolution Service.

Guided by the Family Law Modernization Act, the Family Guide Safety and Wellness Specialist-Family Evaluator is expected to work as a member of the established Early Resolution Services team and use sound judgement.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
Must be able to provide and maintain satisfactory Enhanced Security Screening.
Must be able to provide and maintain satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search.
Must be able to provide and maintain satisfactory Adult and Child Abuse Registry Checks.
Must be able to provide a valid Manitoba Class 5F driver's license with access to a vehicle for business purposes.
Ability to travel within the service area.

Qualifications:

Essential:

A Bachelor of Social Work degree or an equivalent related Social Sciences degree. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Extensive case management experience in the social services field providing a full range of direct services to families including: interviewing, performing assessments, planning, counseling, providing referrals and followup.
Experience in conducting family, psychosocial and risk assessments.
Strong conflict resolution skills.
Effective interpersonal skills including experience providing interventions in crisis or family violence situations for families or couples.
Effective written communication skills including experience preparing assessment reports.
Effective verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of child development, family dynamics and child and youth mental health.
Effective organizational and time management skills.
Experience working with families at risk of or experiencing conflict with a culturally traumainformed approach.

Desired:

Knowledge of the family law system, including the Family Resolution Service Branch.
Experience conducting courtordered family evaluations.

Duties:

The Family Guide Safety and Wellness Specialist - Family Evaluator is part of a larger team of Family Guide Safety and Wellness Specialists who provide a range of high-quality dispute resolution services.

The Family Guide Safety and Wellness Specialist - Family Evaluator conducts court-ordered family evaluations for the court regarding families disrupted by separation and divorce.

Family Guide Safety and Wellness Specialists will possess a generalist knowledge base regarding court operations, family law, and intimate partner violence as they provide support and information to parties experiencing separation and divorce through a single window service model.

Through their work, the Family Guide Safety and Wellness Specialists may support families affected by intimate partner violence, child abuse/children in need of protection, criminal involvement, addictions, and mental health co
