This includes monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for all stakeholders, including the executive team, internal departments, the Board of Directors, ownership and the company's banking and supplier partners, and the related analysis and review requirements.

You will be responsible for directing and managing the company's accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and processes and managing internal controls and external audit requirements with auditors.

What's in it for you

As the Corporate Controller, you will:

  • Manage the accounting and financial reporting operations. You will ensure compliance with all corporate tax requirements provincially and federally. You will oversee the review of journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable and statutory reporting. You will prepare, analyze and present the monthly, quarterly and annual operating results for each stakeholder.
-
Monitor internal controls. You will ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory and company policies and procedures. You will document and update policies and procedures accordingly.
-
Lead the team. You will set priorities and work with your team to define, measure, analyze, improve and control current processes which impact customer quality or cost and influence internal operating efficiency.
-
Support audits. You will manage customer, government, and year-end financial audits, statements, and covenant reporting and preparation of audited annual financial statements to deliver a seamless outcome.
-
Optimize. You will ensure rapid and consistent collection of receivables by refining and implementing control mechanisms. With input from the CFO, you will be responsible for the formulation of accounting policies, procedures and controls. You will support new systems or project selections and implementation from a strategic finance and internal control perspective.

The successful Corporate Controller will have:

  • Education. A degree in Business or Accounting and a CPA designation.
-
Experience. You have 7+ years of experience working in accounting and finance, providing oversight, being directly involved, and making day-to-day decisions. You have in-depth knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management as well as relevant Federal, Provincial and local tax requirements. You have experience leading external audits and performing appropriate financial analyses.
-
Collaboration. You can build trusting relationships across any level of the organization. You can influence work in a multi-functional team environment with rapidly changing priorities under tight deadlines. You are an experienced team leader who earns respect rather than commanding it and works alongside your team, offering mentorship, guidance, and support.
-
Project management skills. You are highly detail-oriented and meticulous. Your focus is accomplishing every milestone while ensuring processes are followed, and issues are proactively dealt with. You hold yourself highly accountable for your deliverables and the impact your role has on the success of the organization. You exude personal integrity, sound judgment, and ownership. You have comfort with an ERP system, ideally Navision and MS Office.
-
Proactive, curious, and a bias to action. You can balance personal confidence with an openness to new learning and constantly strive to improve.
-
Business acumen. You are business savvy with straightforward process design experience and can see the big picture regarding the company's overall business requirements. You are analytical, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, and you have well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
