About us:


The Office of Student Recruitment (OSR) in University Admissions and Outreach is responsible for the strategic, university-wide approach to student recruitment to target and attract students to the University of Toronto.

Working closely with academic divisions, OSR is responsible for regularly planning, implementing, assessing and revising a full spectrum of student recruitment initiatives.


Your opportunity:


Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, International Student Recruitment, the Manager, International Student Recruitment (MISR) works closely with the senior recruitment team and other members of the office to develop and implement strategies and initiatives to assist the University of Toronto to achieve its undergraduate international student recruitment objectives in the United States, Latin America (Mexico, the Caribbean and South America) and other international markets.


The MISR is responsible for planning and implementing recruitment programs, including collection and analysis of data to inform recommendations for strategy of these regions.

The Manager, International Student Recruitment is responsible for positively representing the University of Toronto internationally, in order to recruit well-qualified domestic and international undergraduate students.

The incumbent provides counselling and information services on behalf of all undergraduate divisions of the University to prospective undergraduate applicants, their parents, high school officials and the public in key international markets.

The incumbent is expected to work with the Assistant Director to review travel schedules for U.S.

and other international activities, research peer institution activitiesand provide the Director with strategic options to enhance the strategy for international recruitment.

The incumbent will work with the OSR communications team to advise on communication needs within the U.S. and other international markets. The incumbent will also act as a liaison and resource expert on U.S. and international recruitment for divisions interested in students from these regions.

This position requires some commitment to travel, with periods away from home and overnight travel throughout the U.S and other international markets.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Conducting detailed data analysis to inform recruitment strategies and plans
  • Planning and implementing components of recruitment related projects
  • Cultivating ongoing, highprofile prospective partnerships that advance strategic agendas
  • Implementing plans that support University and/or divisional strategic priorities
  • Promoting programs at recruitment events
  • Advising potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes by probing and providing a range of options and possible consequences
  • Directing the activities of a group of staffappointed employees all performing a similar function
  • Serving as a resource on specific issues to a group of specialists

Essential Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum five (5) years related progressive experience in undergraduate student recruitment, preferably at the University of Toronto
  • Demonstrated experience in international and multicultural population recruitment
  • Demonstrated experience with event planning, preparing presentations, facilitating workshops, and presenting to large and diverse audiences
  • Excellent knowledge of University of Toronto programs and admission requirements
  • Advanced skills with: Microsoft office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent student information systems (e.g. ROSI) skills
  • Demonstrated excellent public speaking skills; At all times demonstrates energy, enthusiasm for meeting new people and a commitment toproviding outstanding customer service; Ability to create rapport with students, parents, teachers, counsellors, and other participants of diverse backgrounds
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to compile and analyze complex statistical data; Strong research, strategic planning, problems solving and decision making skills; Proven problem solving ability
  • Good leadership and project management skills; Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills and the ability to work within a rapidly changing environment; Flexible with an ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Must be prepared to work outside normal office hours and to travel outside of the Toronto area and internationally; Must be comfortable traveling alone or with colleagues from other universities; Works equally well as a team member or independently
