Bartholomew's Anglican Church, a landmark of history and architecture in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, invites you to become a central figure in our parish operations and community engagement.

Founded in 1866 with a building completed in 1868, our church stands at 125 MacKay Street in the New Edinburgh neighbourhood, opposite Rideau Hall.

We hold a special place as the "Guards' Chapel," being the regimental chapel of the Governor General's Foot Guards. Our history is closely interwoven with the story of Canada, marking our significance in the nation's heritage.


Your Role:

As the Parish Administrator, you are a key part of our daily church operations and the face of St.

Bartholomew's.

This role is pivotal not only in managing the day-to-day administrative tasks but also in overseeing the use and maintenance of our historic space, which includes our venue sharing strategy.

All activities associated with this position must be achieved in a manner consistent with the mission and ministry of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa.

The position reports to the Incumbent (Parish Priest) and Churchwardens.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Be the primary contact for the parish, managing communication through various channels with a warm and welcoming demeanour.
  • Ensure efficient operations of the church office, including supply procurement, equipment management, file management, and worship material preparation. Coordinate building maintenance for both church and rectory, manage the church calendar, and schedule activities for smooth functioning.
  • Handle office concerns professionally, keeping records and registers up to date.
  • Manage the parish website, rental agreements, bookings, and billing.
  • Oversee space usage within the church, maintaining high standards and engaging with potential clients.
  • Collaborate with wardens and clergy on rental policies, including rate setting and daily operations, along with other requirements.
  • Record all donations to the church which are eligible for Taxable Receipts and issue receipts. Handle invoices, prepare requisitions and prepare cheques or etransfers for signature.

Your Profile:


  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Publisher and website content management, with skills in space booking and management software.
  • Strong in administration, organization, and communication, with keen attention to detail.
  • Background in facility or property management, or relevant experience and education.
  • Capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment, both independently and in a team.
  • Committed to confidentiality and adhering to parish policies.
  • Comfortable in a faithbased working environment

Work Schedule:


  • This position is an inperson parttime, 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 2:00 PM.
