Position Overview - Manager, Caregiver Wellness and Seniors Supports; Community Care
This position is responsible to the Director, Mental Health, Addictions, and Developmental Services.

As a member of the Leadership Team, the incumbent is responsible for leading and managing the delivery of a number of programs under the Mental Health, Addictions, and Developmental Services (MHADS) portfolio.

Oversight includes the Caregiver Support and Wellness program, Social Work, and Full Circle programs, and all related staff. The Manager is further responsible for providing support to the Living Well at Home project.

Operations include relational development and coordination with external partner agencies, ongoing quality improvement, human resource development, and the overall performance of programs.

The Manager will assist the Director in any legislative compliance policies/acts related to their assigned program areas.

The Manager is also responsible for program area budgeting, compliance with organizational policies, and appropriate representation to the community, clients, funders, and other community service providers.


What You Will Do

Program Oversight:

  • Carry out the management responsibilities for operating the program areas, including planning and evaluation to ensure the strategic unit directions and objectives are achieved.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the programs' financial information and program area budgets.
  • Prepare statistical and funder reports and submissions.
  • Perform needs assessment to identify service needs and gaps and ensure existing and new program development ideas will meet these needs.
  • Ensure that program and funder targets are met.

Community Relations and Partnerships:

  • Maintain, develop and cultivate strong working relationships with community partner agencies and related groups.
  • Support development and growth of Caregiver portfolio.
  • Maintain and develop contacts with other Mental Health/Addictions, seniors, and caregiverfocused groups and community agencies and attend external meetings.
  • Support organizational initiatives associated with the work of the Ontario Health Teams (OHT).

People Management:

  • Provide direct supervision of Caregiver Support and Wellness program, Social Work, Full Circle programs, Living Well at Home project, and related program staff.
  • Provide clinical supervision and crises incident debriefing.
  • Ensure the recruitment/hiring of qualified staff under the policies of the Collective Agreement.
  • Ensure the effective utilization of volunteers/students and provide support and training.

General:

  • Represent the Unit and/or MHADS portfolio on internal committees.
  • Ensure that programs are responsive, and culturally and linguistically safe and meet the individual, caregivers, and community needs.
  • Uphold and consistently incorporate into practice antioppression, antiracism, health equity, harm reduction, and traumainformed principles.
  • Effective September 7, 2021, all newly hired employees will be required to provide proof that they have completed an approved course of vaccination against COVID19 at least 14 days prior to commencing employment or provide documentation to support an exemption based on grounds covered by the Ontario Human Rights Act (i.e. Medical exemption).

What You Bring to the Team

  • M.S.W. or Post-Graduate degree in a related area and/or combination of relevant education and experience
  • Registration and in good standing with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or another relevant regulatory body (i.e. CPRO)
  • Minimum 5 years management/progressive leadership experience preferably in the Community sector and unionized environment.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of counselling approaches and modalities.
  • Experience in providing clinical supervision to social workers and/or other mental health professionals and trainees.
  • Demonstrated experience building strong relationships with external and internal partners.
  • Knowledge in program development, evaluation, and financial management.
  • Strong computer proficiency and familiarity with client data management systems.
